The excellent biography "The Secret Life of Houdini" by Bill Kalush and Larry Sloman. And, David Ben's book "Dai Vernon: A Biography" gives insight into what Houdini was REALLY like.

Davide Blaine has a chapter devoted to him in his book, "Mysterious Stranger." It is VERY in depth and has alot of great information about David and the history of magic.
