Visual Barcode Change?

Hey guys. I noticed that on a lot of custom card boxes there's a reveal in the barcode. I've heard people talking about a visual reveal, but I don't know how it would be done. Do you just wave the box around, wave your hand over the barcode, and say "look, it changed!" because they probably won't have looked too closely at the barcode anyway, or is there an actual method which allows you to cleanly show the normal barcode and change it to the reveal? Thanks!

What happens often is that the spectator will not even see the reveal without you pointing it out to them and/or close inspection. You can show it very openly and then just rub your thumb, build up drama, and voila. It's easier than you'd think. Hope that helps.
