I usually use some kind of bicycles or tallys. I use bicycle masters the most.

Just the basics, my favorites are Black Tigers and 1800's.

Red and Blue Bikes (20-30 of them)
Ghosts
Black Tiger
Series 1800
Red Masters

Best ones to use in real performances?, normal bikes. Why? People think all different color looking cards are gimmicked.

I've already commented on the cards I've used but wanted to ask questions to others.

Did your Black Tiger decks become all sticky and the black edges of the card start to fade and become all white? I had only used mine for 6 days, keeping it out of hot areas, in the box at all times and max having them out for 45 minutes and they just got destroyed.

My favorite is the Blue Ice Deck. It looks awesome. I just ordered a Guardian, so I'll have to use that as well. But usually I tend to stick with just regular Red and Blue Bikes for my performances because no one suspects that there's anything wrong with them, though sometimes there is. I personally don't like the Vipers because their thickness makes it hard to perform sleights. My Ghosts are unusable because they clump up.

I've heard that using a black sharpie on the edges works well. Just make sure to let it dry well.

Cheers,
JTM

Wow, I read thru this thread and really only one post (lapping) impressed me with choice of decks, this is sad. I guess I don't know anything, heck I've only been collecting cards for 15-20 years, lol.

Listen folks, play and practise with whatever you want, but always perform with cards people know. Put yourself in their shoes, they are already suspicious of what you're doing, don't make it worse by using Vipers or Black Tigers, or some other space age deck from the latest card retailer. Bikes, Bees, Arrcos, or TH9s are found easily by everyone, and all of them are quality decks. Remember YOU make the cards look good not the other way around.

I agree, to a degree, I personally don't use "special" decks when performing for strangers, but if you display and explain them properly, people won't be suspicious, for me I'm asked if it's a trick deck even if it's a normal deck of bicycles sometimes. I think it's all in the way people portray and introduce the deck to the audience.

Thanks Ivan, I just want some of the younger people to realize that there are EXCELLENT decks available right around the corner from them, and that newest isn't always best.

[almer, we all know new isn'ta always better. Just new ones have diffent backs and what not, we suually get bored and want something new. I.E Guardians

After buying a playing with so many brands and looks. I settled on the following list.

1. Masters: They look familiar to all, but the quality gives the Magician the upper hand.

2. Ghost: They are different but not suspicious to most spectators. The front of the cards are white and not black. The red pips are a nice touch and the backs look like normal bikes but white.

I choose not to use Tigers and Vipers because of their black face. Yes, they are beautiful and make a statement, but far too many times the statement I hear is this. "These are trick cards"

I just purchased some Guardians and will wait to gain some experience with them in true performances before I add them to the list. What I do like so far about the Guardians is that they have white faces. The back design is black and beautiful, but the cards still look normal (white) I would guess that these cards will hit my list at number two if they perform the way I predict.

I simply love Masters because I can have them in red and blue which is important for many tricks I perform between the two colors.

I prefer using red masters for performing cause i prefer the feel. riders are just a little thin for me. also, unlike vintage and black tiger, people wont tend to be suspicious that its a trick deck.

and of course, everyones favourite gaff deck can be used with it too. :)

well, i have to say i'm into magic/flourishing for only about 4-6 months now, and i haven't quite decided what to use yet. i ordered one deck of some of cards to try, and so far i'm quite sure i'll stick with ghosts as my magic cards. i think they last quite long, and i totally like the look of the white backs. as for practicing, i love tallys. the back designs are amazing. i don't really like the regular bikes, but for me that's all different, because where i live no one has ever seen a deck of bikes because in my country there's a card company that kind of has the monopol, so you don't get any decent cards anywhere. finally, i have to say in my opinion the tigers and vipers look just amazing! unfortunately the edges wear out too fast, but for showing off they're the best!

^^ Quoted for emphasis

Palmer, i dont quite understand how you still are able to use normal bikes, when you have one of the largest collections of cards ive heard of; if i were in your shoes i would end up trying every single one of them in my performances :p ... Red bikes for performances, and Blue bikes for training. Masters if its a nice day. Ive got one deck of each ellusionist cards, 6 guards on the way.
