What Should I Do?

Hey guys,
basically
I need to perform 1 thing infront of around 1000 people. Length is not a problem. It can range from 1 minute to 10. What ever. Its in a venue of basically a large gym thing. At first, I was planning to perform Dan Sperry's Life Saver sort of thing or something of the same style, but then I found out that the audience ranged from children of the age of 6 to 30, so showing kids sawing your own neck isnt the smartest of things. any ideas?
Im not looking for any close up tricks or whatever by the way.

You need something visual... I suppose this needs to be angle-friendly? If so, I suggest The Thing. It's really meant to be for stage but I think it should do in this case.

PS What's this performance about?

i dun think the Thing is strong enough though.
its just an invisibel ball under a cloth. There isnt really a kicker to it. it just happens and ends.
and its just a little demonstration.

Try a combination of things. Do a few card manipulation things, then maybe invite someone up to do a few card tricks and end with a mentalism effect that will wow everyone.

Start strong and end strong.

What do you already know? How long do you have before this performance?

To follow up on the second question, if you say less than two weeks, I'm just going to say it: you're boned.

There's a chance you can pull this off. If you know The Professor's Nightmare, this can be done for a large group provided you have the proper sized ropes.

I would take Steerpike's advice on this one because he knows about stage more than me, but I could suggest doing a prediction trick involving a few spectators, that is if you know any.
Good luck though!

I would probably stay away from mentalism with the range of ages there are.
If you want something to play out to everyone do something very visual that can be seen by all. Maybe you can add a few over the head jokes or for the drivers jokes. You know the type of jokes that if the kid knows what you are talking about, it isn't your fault.

why dont u just do an ambitious card routine, but also add riot, and shifty, or u could make it come to the top, do a double and do a certain color change to make it look cool

Terrible idea.

Cardiographic.

Insanely expensive.

Thread works well if you have the time to practice it some.

Bad taste and not magic.

but maybe flow from dan huass

A real stretch for stage work.

Am I the only one who has performed for an audience of more than single digits?

Think, people! He needs something that can be appreciated by a very large crowd that can be effectively done in two weeks. Concentrate!

Alright, I have one last idea. Do you have Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic? Do you own a jacket or sport coat of some sort? Does your local magic shop sell rope?

If yes to all of the above, try The Great Coat Escape found on page 258. Very visual, looks impossible, and you can play it up with a Houdini theme, which is going to be very easy to understand for most of your audience.

Thanks Steerpike
I actually have performed for quite large groups before.
But yea.
I unfortunately dont have Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic.
But yea... rope escapes...
Do you think a In and Out rope escape would work well?
