I can't seem to find the actual quote and I can't remember it verbatim, but it's from Penn Jillette while talking about Teller's "Miser's Dream" routine with the glass bowl and the fish. He essentially says that Teller's "Miser's Dream" is as good as it is because he spent a good 30+ years doing bad "Miser's Dream" routines. I like to keep that one in mind because it says a lot about the value of persistence, and also how long it actually takes to get truly masterful at some of the skills we ply.
