If you could have dinner with any magician, past or present, who would that be and why?
If I could... I would probably go with Jean Eugene Robert Houdin, the only reason would be that I would want to show the father himself what his children have done, ie. Show him how magic has changed ever since he did what he did and how he inspired millions of us to do what we love to do. On addition to that, I would even sit down with Kellar, Thurston, Devant, etc. and show them the latest technology and just stalk them to see what they come up with...
As for magicians today, I would LOVE to have dinner with Mr. Teller, both of us are very similar, in terms of appreciation of the art and theater, also I want to know if I'm on the right track or not.
Which artists have inspired you the most in your work thus far?
Penn and Teller, Jason Latimer, Flom The Ba-Bomb (Justin Flom), Ricky Lax, Tommy cooper, Thurston, Robert Houdin, Kellar and Devant.
In terms of NON magicians, it should be,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blue Oyster Cult, The beatles, Michael Jackson, Eminem, George Watsky, Zach Sherwin, Imagine Dragons and a few film makers and actors like, Robin Williams, Cory Monteith, Will Shatner, Mark Hamil, INDY!! (Harrison Ford) and James Earl Jones.
In terms of Writing and Fiction, it has to be ALL of geek culture... Those who know me personally, know that the only kind of T-shirts I wear are superhero and star wars shirts because I LOVE THAT culture and am a BIG fan of it.
What advice would you give to new performers just starting today?
Create and Perform EVERYDAY! also NEVER BE SCARED of walking up to someone and asking them to "pick a card" or whatever... the more you hold it in... the further you'll get from the art... It's Okay if they say no... But what matters is that every time they do, you learn something new.
Also, WHY? The performing life is very addictive... the fact that you chose to be a magician... I'm glad... because you'll love this life if you start but never stop.
How did you first get started in magic?
I will always be grateful to Stephen Mulhern for getting me started into magic. There used to be a TV Show called 'Tricky TV', that's where I learnt my first few tricks... at the time I lived in India and I didn't have access to the internet, so until I was 12, I sat, everyday, staring at my mum's deck of cards and tried to come up with new ideas and tricks everyday. Like I developed my double lift, BEFORE I even knew it existed... I never got around reading books too because to put it straight... I HATE READING... It's VERY Boring.
