I like the flourish just by itself, though it seems a bit too flashy to just be a normal cut, which it is. To solve this problem, I tried to find a way to make the cut false. When you open the packet, instead of putting the top (first) packet in the crotch of your thumb, you put the middle (second) packet in the crotch. Then you can proceed with the rest of the flourish as originally made. This way you can do it as both a false cut and a normal cut.
