I was born in 1933 in London, England. Times were difficult when I was growing up. The World was going to war. World War II began in 1939 and my way of occupying myself during those difficult times was through magic. There was a small magic shop a few blocks from where I lived where I would go each day. I didn't have much money, so I couldn't buy many expensive things. I had saved up $10 so I could buy a deck of cards and a book about card magic. I would go to the store whenever I could and learn from the older magicians there. At home, I spent hours learning and practicing the effects in the book. At the age of 13, when WWII was coming to an end, I created my very first original sleight with cards. I called it the press stack (now known as the Panini Press) which allowed the magician to stack the deck however he wanted after the cards had been shuffled in a matter of about 30 seconds or less. The move was fairly difficult, but over the years I simplified it to what it is today. It still is fairly hard, and takes a lot of practice, but it is in it's simplest form. When I was 17, my family moved to America because my father wanted to get a better job. We lived in New York for about a year, then we moved to Ohio where we resided for 5 years. In 1965, my mother passed away and my father and I moved back to New York. My father passed 2 years later and I was alone. I discovered a magic shop. Tannens Magic Shop. The shop was owned by Tony Spina, who is now a good friend of mine. After I knew him for a year or so, he began talking to me about an idea he had about a magic camp. Contact with him became less and less frequent until 1974 when he contacted me to tell me the camp was happening and he wanted me to be on staff. The camp was originally called "Tannens Magic Week." It was the greatest week of my life. It was an escape from reality, a week filled with magic, laughter, and great memories. I remained on the staff for the following three years. The camp was where I developed, or partially developed, many of my current and published material. Of course it has changed over the years in an attempt to keep it relevant and as simple as possible. My effects and moves range from easy to very difficult, so there is something for everyone. My name has been kept fairly under the radar, that is, until now. I currently reside in a small town in Westchester, New York. I have met several young magicians in the New York area and spread my material and knowledge to them, and in return, they are helping me put my material out there. These talented young men will likely be in the demo videos for my effects that I decide to publish, both performing, and teaching. I hope you all enjoy!
