Ethan Lowe
East Wittering, GbHi, my name is Ethan, I'm 15 years old and am an avid cardist haha. I've been doing magic for about a year and a half and half started shying away from it and joined the cardistry side which I've been doing for about 9 months. My favourite cards are the Sentinels, Artisans and black fontaines. I hope to release a few of my original flourishes you guys and hope you like them and use them ;) cheers, Ethan
How did you first get started in magic?
haha I've been on and off since i was 8 when first got a book about magic including things like coin slights to rope cutting. I have since been doing it for a few weeks here and there until finally in 2013 when "Now You See Me" came out i was inspired to practice non stop magic.
Which artists have inspired you the most in your work thus far?
The artists that have most inspired me in my work so far has definitely been Zach Mueller he's just brilliant, amazing at cardistry he's hilarious and just an all round good person, i hope to one day meet him at a future cardistry-con?? also people like Andrei Jikh and Huron Low have massively influenced me and my work.
How often do you practice - how do you keep your skills (and mind) sharp?
I practice everyday about an hour straight ,however all day if i have a deck in my hands I'm always doing small cuts and flourishes just to get the muscle memory and slowly widen my skill range. infront of the TV watching a good show or just waiting for dinner to cook haha.
What advice would you give to new performers just starting today?
Advice i would give, as a new artist/performer myself i would say don't let anyone dishearten you there are always people out there hating just because they don't understand and respect the art of cardistry or magic. There have been times when my mum has asked me to stop cardistry to focus on my work but she has realised its a real love of mine and now is a massive inspiration helping me and bringing me to meetings and card shops all over.
