Back in 2011, I stumbled upon a move called Flirt by D&D in their DVD Andthensome, the move was so beautiful that I said to myself that I need to create something that looks as beautiful as that. And after many many thinking and experience flourishing with only one card, I finally figured out a way to make a card twirl out of the deck and then slide back to it's first position, but that was just the start.
One day, a friend of mine came to me and showed me this video of a person twirling a butterfly knife, then somehow, it hits me, I grab a deck of cards and test it, and it was a flawless success. I managed to add a new phase to my twirl that instead of dragging the card back to it's first position, I reverse the twirl and “voila” there it is, there's the second phase. As I'm still testing out that second phase, my friend told me to look at the video again, and I saw that the guy threw the butterfly knife up in the air and the knife just closed itself.
And yes, it hits me again with this aerial idea, where I do those two phases of the card twirl and when it comes back to it's first position, I release tension and throw the card up in the air, and the card flies up then down to that first position in my hand. I was shocked and proud, after so many months trying to figure out a way to create something with one card, I finally created one.
I decided to called it Rakurai, first phase will have a C ( Rakurai C), the 2nd phase will have a D (Rakurai D) and the last aerial phase will have an E (Rakurai E). This move was first shown in a video of mine called CLAIRE, that was back in April 2014, and I only shown the first phase of it. A few months later, I met some Singaporean cardists, and we shot a jam video, the name of the video is Cardistry – Saigon 2014, that was the second time I have shown my twirl; this time I show two phases of it. Then in Feb 2015, I showed my twirl one more time in a video of mine called Sakaeru; I show all three phases of it and the other cardists seems to like it, and I’ve been planning on making a tutorial for this move since that video was uploaded.
And I now I have had the chance to teach you one of my favorite moves; I hope you guys enjoy it. This is Rakurai.

The card twirl is great and looks super awesome however the tutorial is very fast so I would recommend this for intermediate and advanced cardists.
Germany • Oct 1st, 2015Video was quick but once paused it gives clear instruction; good and fun flourish.
Wyoming • Sep 28th, 2015The move is great, but the tutorial isn't..... it goes way too fast. Still worth my time.
Netherlands • Sep 15th, 2015Honestly the flourish is really great but tutorial is not that good; can't learn a thing.
Pakistan • Aug 29th, 2015I love this flourish. it is very creative and looks fantastic. the video is very well put together and in very high quality. The reason I had to give this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the video moves very fast and requires frequent pausing and only contains text, no voice. I recomend you download this video and watch it when you have more time on your hands than the video is long.
Georgia • Aug 19th, 2015Innovative move and really eye-catching. I don't usually do reviews but this tutorial is great. Keep up the good work. Need a bit of practice to get that down though. Thanks a lot.
Mauritius • Aug 6th, 2015Overall this is a great flourish but, the problem is the tutorial needs more explanation.
Taguig, Philippines • Jul 31st, 2015Great looking flourish, but I find it super difficult to learn due to the speed of the tutorial, and the fact that there is no speech in the video, just text. It looks good, though
