What is your creative process - how do you come up with new effects and ideas?

I don't really have a specific creative process. I just use cards a lot, I practice even when I'm in class (I don't recommend that!), and sometimes I come up with something. And then I realize it's not original, so I go back to practice, until I come up with something again.
