Contraband seems like an incredible piece of work and once again raise the bar for decks but at what point in time did the "packaging" or cases become just as important... Or even more important? Seems like any deck that comes out these days has to have a case that's laser etched or has a light bulb on it(?). I'm not against cool cases but I feel the deck themselves need to have more emphasis than their case.

Hm ok I see your point jb. It is obvious a lot of care went into the cards. The case isn't for me but I do respect y'all's passion and creativity. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter!

Hey Drummer, every single card in the Contraband deck was designed from scratch - even the court cards, Ace of Spades, Joker, and face cards (like the 8 of Diamonds) were illustrated from scratch over the course of 8 months by Joe White, a remarkable designer in London. With playing cards, our goal has always been the creation of FUNCTIONAL art. That is, something beautiful, stylized, but just as important - functional - whether that be for magic, for Poker players, cardistry, or anything in between. Contraband - to me - embodies all of those goals, with even the special edition packaging being much more than just packaging - it's a functional object (a LAMP!) to be used on a daily basis. That is, a persistent reminder that as with everything, there's more than meets the eye.

8 months of design and illustration, with unparalleled attention to detail by Joe White and Ryan Edwards (handcrafting each of the Contraband Lamps).

The cards are beautiful but sorry, I must say those hinged books are a monstrosity. The design has no continuity.

Couldn't be more proud of the final result, the thought behind it, and how outside the box (literally) it is.
