I just stumbled into this and I need to say something:
Most probably this was the first time that they saw a magic trick live, up close, and you ruined that experience for them.
I hope you are happy.
Well I've been out of touch for a few days and I just read your response. Hmmm.... lets see where do I start? Lets start at do I give you credit for performing? Yes. Do I give you credit for humping peoples legs and making an a@# out of yourself? No. I would never put myself in a position as a REAL performer where someone could go "Oh I know that guy he's kinda a prick", or "I felt he was rude". A little news for you buddy what we do as entertainers in the public eyes echoes an eternity when your reputation is the very thing that makes you successful. But you have at it. To be honest with you I wasn't attacking you I was trying to understand where you where coming from and I thought I was being clear with my questions from the get go but that wasn't the case. You mentioned you where making a parody of something or someone and I was wondering who in specific who that was, thats why I asked the question it wasn't to instigate you. So this brings me back to the comment on me not being use to entertainers that act obtrusive. Actually I see bad performers everyday I honestly don't mind I just learn from it. Your performance is not bad its just on the rude and look at me side and most of us noted that from our first impressions of watching your video and since first impressions are important in our field then its something you should learn from not attack it. Just saying...but you have my credit for going out to perform not that you need it.

TheNow, I agree with you- really.
My last comments on the video- to those who are watching, DONT PERFORM LIKE THIS, and for others, I hope you enjoy the humor here
Well, Jeff, even though you've explained you don't perform that way, normally, i would never recommend Shane, nor anyone else go out and perform like you did. Just cause it was bad. Not the magic, just the manner in which you behaved. Essentially, you came off as a prick. Not a huge one, just a prick. Your posts in this media discussion are also probably influencing our judgment. I don't care if you were "pushing social boundaries" because you were doing it in a negative way. One lady towards the end had to ask you to leave the one gentleman alone.
I'm sure you are a fine performer in a regular context, so I'm not attacking your ability. I don't care how ballsy you are either, and if you want challenge my ability to gather and hold a street crowd, as well, then just search for my media submissions.
P.S. I think Borat had a hell of a lot more reasoning than that, but that's a whole other discussion.
What was the reasoning of Borat? I wanted to go out and have fun. I wanted to see what I could do and "push" social boundaries. Like the biting thing. I did it because I wanted to. I didn't make a joke of this art, this is better than most people here who don't have the balls to go out and perform at all.
I f);;)d with people because I like seeing reactions- the point of weird and unexpected. It's fun for me to go out and be ballsy and do things that you wouldn't do. IE biting thing.
It wad a parody of street performers in general. Noone g
would go out and do this stuff. And the magic in the video is not bad, if you can hear their gasps and the girls expression with the transpo. Not to mention people laughing when the other girl keeps picking the same card. So don't you dare insult the execution of the magic, which people enjoyed and laughed at.
Shane, make a video and go out and do what I do in the video, guaranteed you don't have the balls or gall to do it. But prove me wrong. I get chucks from being different and odd. Obviously you aren't used to performers or people like this. That's what I'm going for, my comedy is on the edge, saying usually what people think. You've made your point, you don't share my sense of humor like some of us do here.
What makes it disrespectful? The magic is good in the video, so
what's disrespectful? There are things that you didn't like- that's fine- but I believe you aren't giving me the credit I deserve. I got a crowd (let me see you draw a crowd of 25-30) to stop and watch for this video- that means it wasn't as bad as you are saying.
That absolutley answered the question NOT! What was the reasoning behind making a joke of your art and f%!$cking with people? What did you accomplish with it? And exactly who was the parody about?
Well, I appreciate knowing you don't perform like that all the time. But i agree with Shane Black, that going out and performing like that as a joke was a pretty bad idea. Like seriously bad. But its not the end of the world and it didn't worsen my day having seen it. Just seems kinda disrespectful to the art.
I think you did very well. Only thing I didnt like was the part when you tried to draw attention in the beginning.. trust me you will get it anyway! Some comments were cheesy.. but hey who is perfect right? great performance, you have some balls :)
Honestly, i thought this was very funny, and i was looking for something like this to show my friend, cause he thinks i'm the only person like this.... so THANK YOU!!!!! and also, very funny for all other purposes in life... i'm glad i'm on a computer so ppl didn't see me pee my pants....
I'm pretty positive there's no playa hatas tryin to dog ya boi homey. Lets get real this wasn't a parody it was an ill attemp to save face for being criticized on his performance. Or maybe not we'll have to see what his response to my questions but when your response to criticism is (Hahahah) your probably not going to get a good review, and I'm pretty sure there's no gang bangin going on here.
So I'm slightly a little confused. If you didn't want opinions then why post the video? Also you said your an actor in high school and you've been doing this your whole life, I got news for you then you still have alot to learn I majored in drama and film in college and I still learn something new everyday so it might be wise just to take the criticism and learn from it. Once you think you know everything then you'll realize you know nothing. My next question is; why would you go out and perform as a joke? Plain and simple it shows a few things to us, one you don't respect how your percieved in the eyes of your audience which takes me back to my acting question, and two what did you hope to accomplish this day of performing? Answer these questions and maybe you can clear a few things up here.
I was not saving face by any means- this was a joke from start to finish. I never once said I know everything. I said I knew what I was doing. What I wanted to accomplish was a parody- I went out after the Magic Castle meeting and wanted to mess around. I've seen performers like this and wanted to amp it up. Just see what would happen. As you can tell from the end with the non magic related stuff, I wanted to push boundaries with people. I would LOVE to see you go out in public and try to ask people that question and act the way I did.
I didn't care in this video because I didn't. I didn't care what they thought. I'm not "taking" any advice because I DONT perform like this. I'm NOT someone who performs like that. So there's no advice to take from this.
It's just a case of your sense of humor I'm this video. I'm a guy who lives right on the edge of what's accepted and what's not. With the whole biting thing for example. Thanks to thosethat catch my sense of humor and see how it's a parody.

Look at all these playa hatas criticizing you. That was the best parody of street performers I've seen in an absolute age and cracked me up consistently from start to finish. It was so good I showed friends of mine and there's unanimous agreement it's one of the funniest magic spoofs they've ever seen, with the plus that the actual magic was very well performed.
Awesome, I really enjoyed it. 5 Stars. Some of the people here need to grow a sense of humor. This was a joke people, and it was lampooning magicians that behave that way all the time, and it was a great job.
Hey Bud,
I completely respect and understand that this is not your actual performance style. Great video for a joke.
I think what people are getting upset about is that the audience is going to leave with a bad taste in their mouths, and the thought that magicians are conceited jerks. We don't want that stereotype, do we?
