i think you did well with your performance, but there were just a couple things maybe you could work on. for one, it was very fast and she could barely have time to comprehend what was going on. another thing is the card trick you did. Flourishes are great and card tricks are great too, but combined dont look so good. It looks more like skill than magic. just some things to think about.

You clearly dont understand the point im trying to raise. The cliche'd 'Think outside the box' applies here. or 'Think of the bigger picture'. Out. -Sin

whos angry?Just because you critique someone doesnt mean its in anger. Its to help them out. Your last statement "but in the end, its his performance, his magic, his life. " is that the response youd like if your trying to give technical or performance advice?

i wasnt disagreeing with what you said, if that's what you seem to be angry about. I wholeheartedly agree. I was merely stating that its his style, he can do what he wants, and sure enough if by what you say that the audience are more critical than magicians then someone is bound to tell him off for being so fast and as a proffessional, he'll work on it to be more efficient. What you say is true- but in the end, its his performance, his magic, his life.

Throughout the times I have seen a few of his performances, that seems to be his aim. He loves to be praised at his skill. Is that a bad thing? I dont care. All I think would be better for him is that he should slow down the effect and let the spectator see whats going on.

Like what the guy above me said, He's on TV. He made it. So dont give him Magic advice, because he got through by doing his own thing. Though i think that thing he does with the foot is a bit cheesey, whatever works for him eh?

I lie to people. Not myself. I hang around audiences more than I do with magicians. After a show, they are alot more critical than you think. I HAVE tried the flashier eye candy trick and ive seen people react to that type of magic. The majority shrug it off as ok,or a good distraction and talk about stage illusionist, criss angel, and david blaine afterwards.

In what aspect? what appeals to you may not appeal to him. Through the eyes of the youth, flashier eye candy things are more appealing than traditional stage magic. Ever considered that? And dont lie to yourself- You were judging him with Magician eyes. A spectator wouldnt make a critical analysis such as yours between himself and say for example Copperfield.

The audience is your best critic. Im part of his audience,i dont watch any magic performance as a magician. Who said anything about his style? I said performance.Yes,there is a difference.

Why is he asking you specifically to Critique his style?

A few T.V. appearances mean he cant learn and perform better is what your saying?

I'm sorry but a few a you guys must not be active performers or realize evryone has there on style. If not sh&t would still be top hats and wands. That was excellent. There's nothing wrong with a quick flourish if your going to, rveal the card in a flourishy way. Liam you're a pro. Keep it up the wonder!

Lol, His style. Leave him to it. If he wanted a lesson on how to do his magic, im sure he can afford lessons from proffessionals. He's already a Celebrity magician as it is. The basic rundown is- He's already made it while you're here stalking an internet forum. That's like a beggar giving advice on how to make money. Ridiculous. Anyways- Loved that ring routine. You nearly flopped on that revalation though.

is there any good books or dvds that teach this?

This particular trick is done with a coin, originally.I cant tell you what specific books but its old stuff.I think maybe bobo has a chapter with something like that.. The finger ring jumping from finger to finger is an overlooked trick in many beginner magic books.

You are a great performer and got along really well with the spectator! Here's some things you should think about, from my point of view, you might disagree with my opinions. I am no card magician. Your shuffles were very fancy, who would ever trust them? Thus finding her card no longer becomes impressive. I think you kind of could see that on her. You were very fast, which decreases the impact and the magic on the audience. Since I am a part of the camera I can't be fully certain of this next thing, but your first transfer of the ring to her hand felt very obvious. Not the way it was performed, but just that something was going to happen. You put the coin in the other hand, immediately moved away with the Ringhand and opened it, you didn't actually let the motion sink in or become real. Your empty hand appeared over her hand instantly, no natural move beforehand, some sort of subtly by just making a hand gesture as you speak. I'm trying to be constructive and you might disagree with a lot, but all in all you did a great performance and got her well. Especially impressive was the ring magic that really got her reactions. Good job mate!

So you do not believe finding your spectators card, with the correct presentation and pattern, in a deck, having a 1.9% success rate is impressive? I see you don't only underestimate simple magic but also possible gambling routines. "The fancy shuffles and cuts and a card popping out isnt magic. It is a display of skill. " I never claimed it to be and I agree, like I said earlier it leaves him with zero credibility. I think one should take some serious consideration on how their flourishing will affect their magic, and then see if it's worth adding it. I don't think that the result would be positive in most of the cases.

A card location is magic now? When the heck did that happen. The fancy shuffles and cuts and a card popping out isnt magic. It is a display of skill.

"Finding a card is hardly impressive at all." That's correct, if you want to impress other magicians. Are you honestly telling me that having a spectator pick a free choice card, one out of 52, then having the deck shuffled and finding the card is not impressive? Especially well presented with some interesting pattern. You are strongly underestimating the simplicity of magic.

Finding a card is hardly impressive at all. Liam, you moved way too fast on your tricks there. The ring routine was over before it was started. There was very little time for the magic to sink in and everything was hopping around in a blur. Slow down the effects (obviously the moves have to be done quick but I trust your smart enough to know what im talking about) Overall seemed a very light and fun performance but I cant tell if that was due to the video editing and sound or the actual performance.
