"A trick that came from an idea coupled with pure boredom. It's still in development, but any tips are appreciated."

Way to many moves to accomplish something that could be done much simpler and more direct. Good effort, but I would really try to reevaluate the sleights you have chosen to use and try to find something simpler (not necessarily easier, just simpler).
Holy molly something with patter. Instant thumbs up, if I had any thumbs, to ya. The routine itself, including the story, is like a tarnished piece of silver. With some polishing it will shine!
If I may, I suggest working on not saying many Sos or uh or other derivatives of that. That is possibly because, the scripting isn't nailed down yet and I am sure it will be flawless at some point. Also, try not to narrate your movements. I know it is kind of difficult with this routine, because the story is about a friend doing a trick for you. But just try not to do that. One to do this, when you have a spectator instead of describing in third person what the friend did, turn the spectator into you and perform the effect in second person. IE the spectator is you in the story and you are Madison? reenacting the day he shown you the trick. Here is an example of what I mean:
I have a friend named Madison, he does card tricks. I went to him and said "Hey Madison, show me card trick!" and he said, "That sounds like a swell idea."
Go ahead and take a card out Jeff. *Pause with the cards spread out your spectators, eventually they will get the hint.*
Alright, now memorize your card I am going to loose it in a moment. *do the procedure of loosing and controlling the card.*
Now when you turn the deck face up, break character for a second. "He then looked through the cards like this, I am sure you have seen something similar to this." This is kind of like a joke since most people know the thing about key cards. Now, get back into character and finish the trick as Madison.
Also continuing on with the advice, to help separate you and the character Madison in your story, change your voice. Just go crazy with it, make him have a Brooklyn accent that changes to Romanian randomly.
I hope this helps and I hope to see more of your videos in the future.
