YES YOU ARE!!! No just kidding. Pay close attention. It appears as if the cut out diamond changes colors to whatever diamond on the board it is placed on top of. Hope that helped

The extra piece of diamond construction paper is clearly black in color. The board of diamonds are also colored darkly, in varying shades of black and grey. The optical illusion is that the diamond cut out appears to change color against the diamond it's placed over. Giving it an almost magical chameleon like quality.
In reality all of the dark diamonds are the same color. At the top they are contrasted with white, making the diamonds look black. At the bottom it is contrasted with grey, making the diamonds look a darker grey. Then the diamonds in the middle are caught between two different shades of grey and appear as a shade between them. What he is doing is taking a diamond of the same color and showing you that they are the same.
At least, that is how I have heard these illusions described.
Each diamond is lighter at the top than bottom, making the bottom of one contrast with the top of the other. Our brain therefore thinks that the lower one must be lighter, and so on so on down the print.
