This looks similar to an effect by Jay Sankey but I really like your handling and presentation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this idea with the tape around the card comes from a trick by Jay Sankey "In Captivity"?

Yes it does, except not on purpose, i thought of this independently then recently saw it on his sight. but the name of his version just slipped my mind a second ago so im really glad you commented. thanks for the comment!

In light of all the paragraph-long comments, I have one thing to say. Cool

In addition, if you can find a way to start clean, that would be amazing. For example, have one spectator select a card to be the assistant, and then you say you will put the assistant in the box. At that time you put the tape around the card. Have another spectator choose the magician, and proceed with your routine. This would require the use of a force, but if you can get the handling down, you would have a pretty amazing close-up effect there to be proud of. If you don't mind, I might mess around with the handling of putting the tape on during the effect, and send you a private video.

Depending on what change you use, this could be very angle proof. I think you have created something very nice here. Keep polishing it up, show it to a few working professionals to get some insight, and you will have a very nice gem here soon. And like others say, if you can get rid of the unnecessary actions, it can really help the "natural" feel to the effect. You should watch Tony Chang's online lecture at themagicsession.com on October 7th. He will have some really good pointers to share.

Ok, well casey thought he invented it and he named it Wormhole. i was mistaken, i will remember that for next time, thanks for the comment.

Is that your creation? Very good, I'd say. Wormhole very well done. Although, too much squaring action. Make it look as simple as possible, that creates good reactions; you can add some flourish moves, but in the trick in itself, you should make it simple. Congrats.

Really good but i don't think that you can do this on any other angel than you just did. But great trick, but not so good for live performance i gues.

it is great for live performances, Casey Rudd did a performance of the change on youtube from the oposite angle and it looked great. i perform this live all the time.

nice stuff man. one thing. stop doing that all around square up! i used to do that alot too. but just dont unless you need to. but other than that not too bad. i like the reasoning to get the card on the deck first. that was good. with the motion. just get one more to get the card squared up again. and it'll be a nice nice effect.

yea man. i used to do the same thing. my friend told me to chill it out cause it kinda looked like i was doing something i shouldnt do. i also think that it will naturally go away when you start working on presentation more. but yea its good

I never claimed it was mine, it was an idea I had but it was (I think) created by Kostya Kimlat. I knew it looked familiar. Anyways, just thought I'd clear this up.
