    Bicycle Guarantee Card

There was a guy in a magic Facebook group I belong to that was trying to sell the guarantee cards for quite the high price actually!

    Bicycle Guarantee Card

Ah that makes sense. Thank you for the response @Lyle Borders !

Ideas to change up my ACR?

I bet you I know exactly why he messed up because there is a potential flaw with Clarity Box. It gets sealed airtight which will make the "EMERGENCY USE ONLY" sign pop off when the top is removed which is devastating. The fix I found for that is to use either double stick tape or some other...

Which of the Art of Astonishment books is best to start?

I agree with @RealityOne that the first book is the best place to start. All the effects that RealityOne mentioned get another vote from me as well. I think they are all really great to perform. I will say at first I thought no one would take these seriously, especially Unshuffling Rebecca (A...

    Bicycle Guarantee Card

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll have to check them out.

Ideas to change up my ACR?

That's the one I personally own and use. Absolutely love it!

    Bicycle Guarantee Card

One of my favorite card effects to perform with a Joker card is Unshuffling Rebecca. Unfortunately the Bicycle company no longer prints the guarantee card in new printings of their standard bicycle cards. Any idea why this is and how I can get more guarantee cards? Also what other effects are...

Ideas to change up my ACR?

That is the best way to do it. I see a lot of guys try to be really quick with everything in an effort I believe to cover moves but I think it looks way cooler when it's slow, deliberate, and smooth. The heart of the ACR is how you choose to end it. I see recommendations of the Omni Deck which...

Got a rather rude comment a few weeks ago.

Despite what magicians think, the perception of most magicians to the general public is people who are either childish, dorky, socially awkward, or a mixture of the three. It is up to magicians today to change that perception. In my view, we have a lot of work to do.

    Should I get Angle Z?

Jeff Stone has a pretty cool variation where the corner appears in a sealed pill box that I find is pretty good as well.

    Cipher

I second Cipher. It is definitely in my top 5 buys from Ellusionist. Cipher is more of a tool rather than a trick. You will have to be creative in how you use it to make for great mentalism performances.

Who should I Submit my Trick To?

Note that one thing you will need is your parents tax information if any payment is going to be sent to you. You will need their information since you are under 18.

    Patter

This is just my opinion but: story>>>>>>>effect. I think it was Dai Vernon that said the effect should be able to be described in one sentence. As long as your spectator can do that and is not confused by what happened, then your performance of the effect has succeeded. The story is where you...

    Positive Role Models

That's such a great story! Would love to meet Daniel Garcia in person sometime. He seems like such a cool guy.

    Book suggestions

Yes if you can afford it. It's a bit pricey being $75 (I was lucky enough to pick it up for $30 at a magic convention). If you are going to focus solely on restaurants and pubs and don't want to cough up $75 I recommend the Restaurant Worker's Handbook by Jim Pace...

    Anyone else ever get this?

I think that statement right there is the answer. Performing in high school is far different from performing out in the real world. In high school you already have an identity established so it's hard for people to see you in any other way than how they see you on a regular basis at school. Out...

    Positive Role Models

Oddly enough that is what I respected the most about Blaine. I have a lot of respect for Dynamo too. He seems like a pretty decent person.

    Trouble with the break

I would like to see how you are holding the deck but if I had to take a guess, I would say you need to relax your grip slightly and hold your pinky back further closer to the edge. Hope this helps!

    Ring Magic Books

For $25 there is Magic With Finger Rings by Jerry Meltzer. You won't find a whole lot below that price.

    Book suggestions

If you feel that you are at an intermediate level, I would recommend the Tarbell Course in Magic book set. A lot of outdated stuff but yet a lot of great routines that I even have planned for future shows such as this amazing transpo I learned from Tarbell. I recommend The Approach by Jamie D...
