Need help with assisted living home show

First off, I'm so happy to hear that you are doing this Brett! It's always exciting when you are expanding your performing range and trying out new territories. If you had more time, I would suggest doing a newspaper tear and restore. Perhaps even doing it as an opener. Just imagine grabbing a...

    Vapr help?

Advertising 101: Nothing ever looks as good in real life as in the trailer. ;)

    Vapr help?

The only thing I have heard is from Sansminds themselves in that it's supposed to last longer and supposedly produce better smoke. I'm not sure if I am going to try it out or not because I'm just going to go with David Bonsall's fix of Vapr. I have to have it working by May.

    Youtube Channel Trailer

It's dope! Your more recent video seems more mature and organized which is great. Good job Dean!

Looks like I got a solo stage act locked in for May 2017. It will put all my other projects on hold since it will be a priority. Excited!

    Levitation ??

I was trying to work out this plot about a year or two ago. The best answer I could find is this: But to me it seems fairly obvious what he is doing and the gimmick could be simply constructed yourself (think STS).

    One of those perfect moments

That is a great moment! That's why when I do utility move 7 I always switch the gimmicked ring out for the real one and the perform reflex before handing it to a spectator to fully examine. That combo slays people even when they are suspicious of the Odyssey ring at first.

    What are your opener effects?

I love effects where I can borrow an object from a spectator and do something cool with it like Break, Ring Flight, or No Pressure. If that opportunity doesn't present itself than I will do something organic such as Lipsmacker. For stage, my opening is constantly evolving. The venue sort of...

What do I buy with 100$???

I commend you for trying to branch out from the typical card tricks. Before I can give my input I need some context as to what you are looking for. Are you wanting stuff for stage magic, street magic, walk around, etc.? Is there a particular effect or spectacle you are trying to accomplish? What...

    Deck Switch

Cold Case and The Cooler are the two deck switches I use.

    AACAAN

Besides Asi's? I have heard that many consider that to be the best ACAAN. I know of Patrick Redford's take on the plot with Hands-Off. It's a decent effect but requires gimmicks although he teaches an impromptu version as well. Peter Turner teaches a couple of his methods on his second live...

    What should I create?

Don't forget about Fred Kaps. I feel like a lot of younger magicians have no idea who he is when he was one of the most influential magicians of the 20th century. I can't recommend studying him enough if anyone wants to know how to act on stage. Some consider him to even be the greatest magician...

Dai Vernon: The Spirit of Magic

The woes of a film maker in a nutshell. ;) Currently having that issue with some projects I'm working on. I realized that some of the stuff that I like and goes to festivals won't appeal to mass audiences. So I'm wondering if I should sacrifice my identity and passions for mainstream...

    Rapture

I have Rapture and I know of Gone Deck due to the Dream Act. It's like comparing apples and oranges since they are two different things. Rapture does involve an easy to make gimmick but it is angle sensitive with some sleight of hand involved. It's a solid effect though and they have a bonus...

    Counterfeit Questions

I'm hoping to have a review of Counterfeit up soon with live performances. Not saying my performance will be any better or change your opinion, but I'll try to go pretty in depth about it. I will say this though. Counterfeit is one of my favorite card torn into four pieces and restored effects...

    Odyssey; ring style

Hmm...I don't think you can paint over the gimmick since it has a matte finish to it. Maybe spray paint would work? One other idea is once you learn what the gimmick is, you can make one on your own of the color that you want without the matte finish. It might be difficult to make though. I...

Dai Vernon: The Spirit of Magic

As a script writer myself, I saw the script writing itself as I watched the documentary. All it would take is for an accomplished script writer to watch the documentary and they would easily see how they could have something on their hands. I'm curious as to why you think this. I know films...

    Odyssey; ring style

I'm not quite sure what you mean by ring style. I'm going to assume you mean the look of the ring. If that is indeed what you mean then the answer is no. It has to be a black ring that matches the gimmick. Theory11 does include an actual tungsten ring in with the gimmick that matches the...

Your thoughts on showing a magic trick to the same people over and over again?

I learned quickly to keep my magic that I upload on Instagram separate from my stage and street routines. A lot of the best reactions come from the surprise of the effect. That's why we typically never tell the spectator exactly what is going to happen before we do it. We want it to be a...

Dai Vernon: The Spirit of Magic

Are you serious? Between all the drama involved in his private life, his obsession with his craft, and his narcissistic personality; Vernon's life is begging to be made into a feature. His life is every bit as interesting as Howard Hughes and look at how well Aviator did among critics. Plus the...
