Who is the true expert at the card table?

(Ahem) Arturo Ascanio. Certainly this may raise some disputes, as his way of handling cards is so much different compared to the previously mentioned cardicians. Just to show that many "experts" at the card table have existed and still exist and they are masters in their own rights.

    Classic Pass Questions

FunkyBottom, nice to meet another musician on here. Just wanted to clarify, I think you mean Richard Kaufman's "On The Pass," and not Hoffman.

    POWERFUL MAGIC NEEDED!

Easy, cheap, and powerful...... PRACTICE! OK, I'll quit being a smart butt. Many of the replies here are on the right track. Presentation is key. You don't want to just rely solely on gimmicks or "buying the newest thing" to get the best reactions (if you plan on continue to progress, anyway)...

How important is card magic in your opinion?

Hofzinser once said that card magic is the "poetry of conjuring." I personally agree, but remember, everybody has their opinions. In my 10+ years in practicing and performing magic, 99% of my repertoire has been card magic. Sounds ridiculous right? Just depends on your audience. After...

    Classic Pass Questions

The pass is only as useful/valuable as those who do or don't practice it. To each their own, for sure. Do any one of you guys happen to be musicians? I view the pass as a scale. Growing up, I practiced scales mindlessly (because my teacher told me to), not knowing what they were truly useful...

    Possibly created new sleight.

Card magic is plenty of centuries old. I thought countless times that I "invented" a new move or effect, only to find that it has been created by our forefathers. Do plenty of research on it. Not only will you be giving credit (if any) to those who deserve it, you'll gain knowledge in the...

    Card Clips?

I've never bought a custom deck clip. I have a standard Porper clip that has served me well over the past five or so years. Plus, it was only $23 bucks! Most custom clips cost a bit more. I don't care too much for fancy looking clips. My all black Porper looks just fine.

Here's a routine I've been working on that is influenced by Dorian Rhodell's "Recon" off of his Avenue DVD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCySnM3YbN0&list=UUXSD5fn5HlYbNUNAiqDipSw Please let me know what you think!

    Pass

I've been practicing the Pass for a long time. What I've found that helped me the most, is clearing your top hand while the "revolution" takes place so that the portion being "passed" doesn't come into contact with the palm of your top hand. The portion being "passed" may already be making...

My version of the Buck Twins' "Hedberg All Over"

Hey guys! I haven't been active in the magic community for a while because of school. I graduated in May and now I'm ready to get back to studying the art of conjuring! Here is my handling of Dan and Dave's "Hedberg All Over." Please let me know what you think...

Saturday Night Contest - Dimitri Arleri Roundtable

As a self proclaimed "cardist," I consider myself an artist. After attending a lecture by Ta Na Manga this past summer, I held on to their concept of how every form of art influence each other in some way. In your mind, has any other kind of artform influenced your card flourishing at all? If...

    Bad decks?

I bought a deck of Monarchs a while back and found them to clump really quickly as well, but I have REALLY sweaty hands. However, I've found that old Ohio decks don't clump as easily for me (they may be disgustingly wet after an hour or so of me handling them, which THEN they become...

    Wayne Houchin injured in attack

I am disgusted with the man who did that. From what I saw in the video, it seems as if he tried to spread the fire through Wayne's hair. I wish Wayne the speediest recovery in the world. He's one of the brightest minds in magic today...it is so upsetting that something like this happened to him.
