Alternative ending for rope escape routine

A striped shirt in 50 shades of grey. Just kidding, I think it would be best to have it refer t something else you said earlier. If, for example you mentioned that you have worked on this till your shirt went red with blood sweat and tears you could change the shirt red. If you are going for a...

Bottom Deal (Mechanics Grip) - JFX

I notice you said a mechanic's grip. Have you practiced in other grips at all? I primarily use a modified Erdnase grip but I have toyed with what Marlo calls a Sharps and Flats grip as well as Daniel Madison's and the Mechanics Grip. Funny enough out of those grips my Mechanic's Grip is the...

    stage illusion plans

I wouldn't throw something together that quickly. Jeff Mcbride recommends the chair suspension, or the hindu sword basket. You don't need a huge illusion to close a show in my opinion. Richard Hatch a very accomplished magician in my area performs a gypsy thread routine as an encore, in essence...

Alternative ending for rope escape routine

I'm not too crazy about the Fifty Shades of Grey dealio but a costume change is a classic way to finish it. You could probably perform it with dresscode. I personally love the struggle and the journey that the magician takes in an escape and I don't think that it always needs a big finale.

Where to learn David Blaine tricks ?

The "effect" is an old fakir effect. Dan Hauss released a method to do this on DVD called "Through and Through". Brian Brushwood performs a version of the trick as well. I believe Dan Hauss taught Blaine how to do it. Dan's DVD has been pulled off the shelves because it is too dangerous and I...

Will There Be More Card Holders?

Detailed Reviews of Almost Every Murphy's Lecture

Jeff Mcbride is one of magic’s greatest teachers. He has influenced countless magicians and rubs shoulders with the best magicians out there. Unfortunately, most of his style seems out of date in my eyes. His magic certainly has a niche demographic and I am not a part of that niche at all. I...

The Dealer's Challenge: How fast can you deal through a deck?

Yeah please do! I have dealt faster just not on camera.

    New effect: need opinions POLL

Yeah, it looks great! You could use it in performance without a problem, it would probably do just fine. The Wire has a VERY high standard for originality though. It's a shock to most magicians who try to release things on the Wire for the first time. Working with the Wire has changed how I view...

The Dealer's Challenge: How fast can you deal through a deck?

Steven Lafitte asked me how quickly I could deal through a deck of cards. It sounded like a good challenge so I tried it out and I'd like to challenge you guys as well. Post a video or your times. The rules are as follows: -You have to have 52 cards in the deck -You have to deal the cards one...

    Which should I be?

You'll end up in the hospital before long if you try to use a bottom deal or a pass in a real game. It's common for magicians to think that they can cheat using sleight of hand but in reality cheaters think completely different from magicians. Even if your methods are sound the kind of games...

    Trick's names

I'm not too crazy about exposing other's magic. The t-shirt trick was ripped off of Calen Morelli though. Calen hasn't published it anywhere. Most of the other magic is just his take on classic effects.

    Creating New Magic Tricks

I prefer to start with the method more often then the effect. If I can find something clever, deceptive or puzzling I feel like it keeps me going longer than if I imagine an effect that I'd like to achieve then tried to find a method. Once I have thought of an idea the hardest part is working...

    How Do You Read?

I prefer to work through a book slowly trying to work through each effect so that I understand exactly how it works. When possible and if it seems doable I will try an effect on a family member or friend. After I have read through the book thoroughly it goes on my shelf and I use it a reference...

    Pendulums

Pendulums are very interesting. I know Derren Brown and Steve Cohen have both used pendulums in their professional acts. I can't seem to find a specific Ebook that was available on pendulums. You might look into table tipping and other seance type magic as well.

    What Do I Do?

I wouldn't worry about finding your exact niche right now. Do the kind of magic that makes you happy and keep exploring. Eventually you will find the type that makes you happiest. When I was fourteen I had just read Jim Steinmeyer's book Hiding the Elephant. I got into theater and thought that I...
