"The hand is quicker than the eye"

A bullet catch takes advantage of something that travels quicker than the eye. Your hands don't have to be fast enough to beat your eyes but the bullet always is too fast to track.

"The hand is quicker than the eye"

Hey guys, For the most part it is a myth that the hand is faster than the eye, that being said there are hundreds of moves that are. It would be fun to make a list of those moves. Just to get us started... -Snap change -Shape Shifter change -Hanson Chein's Touch -The gag where you take a...

How Do You End Your ACR?

That's one effect that I never want to know the method for. I get a little giddy every time that I see it :)

    Impossible Disappearing Fingers

I love Mier's act. The methods look completely different though.

Taking a functional step forward in deck design

Yeah I've seen those, they look like they might work. It reminds me of stingers just a little bit, I like those because the borders are less stark. I bet the effect would be similar to a deck of Bees with a casino logo on the back. It is better than a deck of Bikes but not quite as nice as a...

Saturday Night Roundtable with Steve Cohen

    1. How do you rehearse new material? 2. Have you ever had anything that you thought was great but didn't play well when you put it in front of an audience? 3. What do you look for when creating your routines? Do you start with a story line? An effect? A good plot? When do you say "that would...

    Failure

I approach magic with a Red Baron like attitude. Paraphrasing a famous saying of his that he "never entered a fight he couldn't win" sums up my style when I perform. The odds of failure should be so small that it is nearly insignificant. In a professional sphere if I mess up it may effect my...

    Raven

I like impromptu sleight of hand. I prefer practice to gimmicks. Don't get me wrong the gimmick works, and it's pretty cool, kinda James Bond like. Looking back though I wish that I would have got something else with my money. I would have been a lot more ahead of the game if I had bought Bobo's...

    Raven

I hope somebody else posts too but for me when performing casually and in doing walk arround it is tough for me to get it set up without leaving the room. I'm sure there are those who use the Raven on a regular basis. It just takes a bit of prep immediatly prior to performing and it is noisier...

    Raven

The Raven is my only regret in my magic purchases. It just isn't that workable in a real environment. I have the classic. It's tough to get in to and for me I always got a "click" and then a "rustle" sound whenever I use it. I would avoid it and get book or a good DVD.

Q: for those who do Gambling demos professionally

I use gambling as a magic plot for the most part. I know that's not exactly what your asking but I'll let you know what I do. I make my set into a small story about a notorious gambler. I cut to the aces and then I tell how this gambler used to actually steal cards from his opponents. I then...

Taking a functional step forward in deck design

That's interesting, it would make for a strong "Aniversary Waltz" as well I. Does a blank backed card have the same effect as a diamond back card with second deals? It seems like it might be better than borders but worse than diamond backs. If I could find a deck that could do triumphs and...

    Photo Finish

The patter was well rehearsed, you have a nice confident air. I didn't have any problem with the scripting or your character. When you clean up the cards at the end your hands were a bit rushed. I would slow down there. I love Shawn's thinking, it's a really nice effect.

Taking a functional step forward in deck design

Would it be weird to use a deck of blank backs as your regular deck? That might help the problem and they already make decks like that. It seems strange though.

Learning the muscle pass & it hurts bad

It may be easier on your hand to trade to a wooden poker chip for practice. It also helps you to be more versatile.

    Entertaining 10 year olds

I have to say a mouth coil can be strong, I totally agree with Draven here. It depends on presentation but it can kill. If you're worried about it being age appropriate I think Rocco put out a money mouth coil. That could worked into a less clown like presentation. As far as card tricks go in...
