    Annoying Spectators, Help???

We don't have the whole story here, just that you had somebody yank the props out of your hand and expose how it was done. There are so many ways to deal with this situation. If they were friends or family, then here is how you deal with it. You stand your ground or you can simply nip this...

    Original Plots in Magic?

Or you can an old plot/idea and change the pacing and timing of it and making it SEEM different. This is usually what a lot of the smarter performers will do with old effects, when performing for laypeople and not other magicians.

Brian Tudor... where is him now?

Kind of an odd character to portray yourself when you are trying to make money by doing instructional DVD's on XCM. It may work for those comedians because they actually seem like they enjoy what they are doing, but from what I've gathered is that Tudor just ended up being a complete tool.

Is Wayne Houchin still releasing/selling magic?

He's been busy touring and lecturing, the last thing he released was Houdini's Influence I think and that was either something you could get at his lectures or once through him directly.

    Overhand Control

You can also control multiple cards with an overhand shuffle control as well. In jog or Out jog. While it's a nice idea and I'll give you credit that, other than that it looks awkward and ham fisted, and the ability to do so has been around forever and there is a reason it's been around forever...

    Overhand Control

Looks like an out jog shuffle, which has been around for like 120 years.

    Beginning Magician

Rick already gave you a good idea, though I am going to say just start with Royal Road to Card Magic. It's a cheap book and has a lot to offer in it. Everything else that most people keep mentioning is either going to cause information overload or cause you to end up putting a bunch of things in...

    Card Passes

Here's is another thing to think about with the pass, you NEED to use misdirection to take away from them thinking that you did anything with the deck. Aaron Fisher has some good advice on the pass on card magic min videos. Also, I am going to recommend what my Mentor has pretty much said...

    This Video Has Magicians PISSED!

It pisses me off because it makes it even harder for people to take what we do seriously. I also hate it when magicians use the blanket statement of "But I am ENTERTAINER!" and then go on to tell corny jokes or stock hack lines. This is also one of the reasons why I admire guys like Eugene...

    my magic collection $$

Having a collection for two years doesn't really mean much and I doubt that he has actually learned and used many of the things he owns. I seem to recall Jason England saying that he has a huge library that he collected over the years and when he finally got around to reading everything, it took...

Good Reads for the Proficient Performer?

Verbal Magic, The Magic Way, Five Points of Magic, and I think he's got a new one coming out called The Magic Rainbow. All of these are by Juan Tamariz.

Wow Our Community Here Has Gotten Harsh...

Ironically, this is one of the reasons why I decided not to join a ring. I'd rather have somebody be honest with me and tell me what I did or am doing wrong, than have somebody constantly blowing warm air up my butt.

    Erdanase: Bible Edition

Personally, I prefer The Dai Vernon Revelation edition of Erdnase. The pictures are a lot clearer, the writing isn't cramped and is also much better designed, not to mention the tips and extra things in the big book make it much worth the money.

    Problems I often encounter

Work on a better presentation than just telling them what you are doing. People only pay attention to what you are doing BECAUSE you are TELLING them that you are doing something. Weather this is shuffling the cards, or cutting the deck. Don't say it, just let your actions speak for you. Also...

    College Majors

Like Mat said, you're going to NEED to have a back up plan besides magic. While Magic is great and fun, it's not going to fully support you unless you've studied things outside of it that also support it (Public Speaking, Acting, Business and Marketing.) Then it can be a decent career. But that...

    Books on misdirection

If you are going to get the Books of Wonder, just beware that they aren't beginner books and some of the stuff in the books might not be do able for one reason or another.

    Remembering People's Names Is Important

You could just say their name a few times when you are performing for them. Like maybe around 3x casually to get it into your head. As for anything else, you're not going to remember everybody's names who you've performed for. Not even Harry Lorayne would be able to do that.

What do you consider a "Holy Grail"?

The Anti-faro isn't that great and you can really tell when the creator of the sleight even mentioned that he couldn't think up any use for it. I consider the overhand shuffle to be the Holy grail when it comes to card magic. You can't name a single person who doesn't use it, it's invisible...

    Creators and Performers.

The only creator who i think has gone from creating AND performing to barely doing either is Jay Sankey. Sankey has released a lot of GOOD things over the years, but currently he seems to be just rehashing his old material and most of his "newer" stuff has been pretty awful and he doesn't...

What magic items do you carry

No he has a point, while Vernon was a genius when it came to magic. He was also just a man and he wasn't perfect, I'm sure even he would tell you that sometimes he's been wrong on a few things here and there. The point that Mat made (while it was arrogant), was that it would be silly to put...
