    tricks on the spot

I personally don't think you should perform "on the spot". You can make something LOOK like's on the spot, just by figuring out WHEN and WHERE you want to perform. Say like you want it to look "impromptu". So you have 2-3 effects planned for the month and you make it so you ONLY perform 3x that...

    New Magic Shop

The only downside to Brick and Mortar shops is that sometimes the guy behind the counter won't always know whats best for you and will just end up being pushy or in nonstop salesmen mode.

    Fear of getting caught

I would suggest scripting your routines. From beginning to end (IE: From when you approach a group and what you say them BEFORE you perform, to what you say and do during the routines, and AFTER). This may seem like a lot of work, but if you put some thought into it (shouldn't take more than...

Using someone else's music in a performance

You are correct AND you are also dead wrong. People can become interested in a band by hearing the song in a club or whatever. But, with today's technology A LOT of people would either torrent the bands work or go to one of many MP3 websites for the song. Most bands don't make much money...

    Last Night's Gig Review

Benji Bruce supposedly does that has you can see how he has his website cluttered up with a ton of random video testimonials. I think they can be good, but in the long run a written one is usually better and easier to look at. Specially because if somebody views your website they don't want to...

America's Got Talent - Stripper Magician

Americas Got Talent tends to hate magicians of all kinds and pretty much a few other acts that tend to pop up every now and then.

What performances give you your inspiration?

It's less of a certain effect time deal, and more about how each of them pretty much make it look like they can do real magic and still show some form of skill, while not being a stereotype. Though I did get inspired to get back into coin magic from seeing Michael Vincent perform Rhapsodies in...

What do you bring to a magic convention?

Have a check list of the items you brought with you. Because when you travel it is possible to misplace something important when you are packing up in a hurry. Also I would suggest having a short list of the Lectures and Dealers you want to check out, this SHOULD hopefully prevent you from...

What performances give you your inspiration?

Juan Tamariz, Michael Vincent, Ricky Jay and David Roth are usually guys that tend to inspire me to perform.

    cellphone magic

Kind of my problem with Iphone magic as well, unless you do something like pull a signed playing card OUT of the touch screen or something like that. I'd rather get most of the credit for what happened, rather than allow them to give the phone credit because than it goes from "OMG that was...

What do you bring to a magic convention?

Just a cheap deck of cards, conventions of any kind are usually huge and if your coins fall out of your pocket and the chances are good that they could. They will be pretty much lost forever. I'd think just a tape recorder if you're bad at taking notes and maybe a decent sized note book.

My video response: for Mixed Entertainment! =P

Thousands live and in person for actual paid gigs, or thousands has in your youtube page got 1k views? Because there is a major difference between the two and I don't think you understand that, I also highly you have any idea on what you're talking about as well. You sound just like that another...

Why Do Magicians Dislike Criss Angel?

I guess you count things like wires, camera tricks and video editing. "Things that can be bought off the shelves."... >_>

    Obsession with a "Borrowed Deck."

Yeah this whole phrase get's thrown around like it's supposed to be godly or something, when in fact it really doesn't add much to the magic. It's like saying that instead of doing Coin magic with Halves or Silver Dollars, you should do it with borrowed coins. The main problem with assertions...

    Basic Coin Magic?

Michael Vincent has a good DVD set out on Coin Magic and so does Eric Jones. Both are very good.

    Impressing Girls (I need help!)

How about not use magic and just walk up to her and say Hi and start a regular conversation and then if the moment if right maybe produce a coin or a napkin rose or something.

    Torn and Amazed

REF4M has gotten kind of a bad rap because it destroys the card at the end of the effect, thus not leaving them with the restored card to enhance their memory of the event. Wayne Houchin also has a really good TnR card, but he rarely puts it out, unless you attend his lectures.

    Card Culling

Yeah, I'd check out Kostya's DVD's both of them really go into depth on the sleight.

    Boycotting Hank Lee

Yeah, I've heard they've had a few problems over the years like charging you for something that isn't in stock and not giving a refund or anything like that. This is why I like guy's Denny Magic, usually if they don't have something in stock, they won't charge you for it and they tell you what...
