    Magic In Southern California

First, don't assume that because your perception in Southern California is that "magic is not very popular" does not mean that is fact elsewhere, or even in California. You don't know, what you don't know. I prefer to take the approach that it is popular and based on that assumption, I...

    How?

My second grade teacher's' husband was a magician and he gave us a show, I still recall most of his show. Later in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade one of my good friends had a brother who was a magician, and he did shows for our Jr. High School class. I bugged him all the time to show me...

    Coin Magic...a dying art?

As for easy to learn coin tricks hard to beat 'Scotch and Soda' or use of a PK ring..... I too believe that coin tricks are growing both in number and complexity. I now have learned to work sponge balls, and this will lead me next to coin magic using slight of hand.....I think I read that in...

The Best FREE trick to make a huge impact on someone.

What is a persona to you?

I am not sure about your disagreement with me regarding Introverts and Extroverts.....as it is inconsistent with my life experience and training. Regardless, using Alcohol and mindless entertainment to unwind probably is not the best choice. Don't get me wrong, I do take a drink from time to...

The story I need to tell.

Many use no 'patter' at least nothing spoken....only body language including facial expressions, eye movement and hand motions, etc. Pantomime if you wish....usually with some background music....I think this style can be extremely funny and engaging....but probably harder than developing...

What is a persona to you?

I think it "depends"! If you are an extrovert, I am suspect your persona stays pretty much the same, even when performing...as that is the nature of an extrovert! If you fall on the side of being an introvert, then performing is a real challenge and the easiest way to deal with that is to...

    Beginning Card Tricks

What is really neat about learning card tricks is there are two basic types of tricks. Self-Working which are, and I quote from Mark Wilson's book Complete Course in Magic, "...many excellent card tricks that practically work themselves and are nearly fool-proof from the magician's viewpoint...

    Small Size Cards

Yep, I use Bridge cards form much of my Cardistry, as they are smaller and easier to work if you have small hands....The are the same length as Poker cards, but are 1/4" on the width....

Like most other things in life, in magic the things that take the most practice to master will give you the most satisfaction!

    Total Beginner

I am not experienced enough to give you a lot about card magic. But many on this site are extremely good at all forms of card magic. As I understand it you have two basic types of card magic, one is self-working card magic where you learn a method to create a card trick. I love these...

Where to discuss product information with others who also own the trick?

From what I know about this site, they will not let anyone reveal a trick! They probably will take down or change anything posted that reveals a gimmick....as you probably know, magicians do not reveal how they do it!

Where to discuss product information with others who also own the trick?

I generally put out a post asking a question about a trick or category of tricks. Then after a few responses, pick out the one that you feel best about, based on the responses, and PM them specific questions....

    PK Ring 'noise'

I am working on a trick to make a coin disappear from a volunteers open hand. I saw this on a show some years ago and only recently determined it was done or could be done using a ring and associated other props. They way it is set up is that the subject holds the coin on their open palm...
