    Kids party magic for twins...help!

I too focus primarily on kids magic, and primarily my kids and their friends...I like what you have already started on but a c0uple that I like to use with kids in that age group.... Cut Rope - where you appear to cut a rope in half then magically repair it! I work this after the Professors...

My First Time Performing...was for Disney Royalty

Brett, Very cool! You are no longer a 'virgin magician'....! Next time have someone video it with iPhone or whatever, because as you learned your mind goes a bit blank when trying to recall what worked and what did not.... Next time will be easier.....practice, practice...

    Help With A Kids Show!

I will look at those you mentioned, but when I started out looking for basics on how to set up and work with kids on a magic show I found his material well organized, logical, and creative in how he suggested dealing with the many things that are unique challenges when working with different...

    Help With A Kids Show!

Reality One....all good comments you offer.....! One of the guys I found that has a lot of 'How to do Magic for Kids' was Julian Mather, an Australian magician who offers lots of methodology about doing shows for kids. A lot of his work is available for free and of course if you really like it...

    Small Stage Magic Recommendations?

As Josh says, I love my rope tricks and the "professors nightmare" is my favorite, although cutting the rope, tying it together and then repairing it...is also a good one.... Both can be learned with a minimal amount of practice. The rope can be purchased at the hardware store just be sure to...

    Where to go from here?

You are getting some good stuff here..... Let me add my $0.02 worth! As far as how you can improve your techniques and presentation many on here talk about using a mirror when you practice, of course you already know that. Also, many on here record themselves doing a routine or particular...

Want advice on how to talk to people to perform

I think a costume, hat of something, showing you are an entertainer, clown, or something, might help. In today's world it can be down right dangerous to approach people. Part of the consideration is where you are and what types of people are around. Also, having someone filming you would...

    Is Cardistry just a hobby?

I think of Cardistry as a artists tools. Like a painter has different techniques, pallet knifes, brushes, and types of media that is used to create one work of art. For a Magician, Cardistry adds a style and form to the other elements of his/her overall finished work. So I do not see it as...

Really confused I need a help

Just to reiterate...this is one trick you do not want to use "trial and error" on for obvious reasons. I have heard a number of folks have been injured trying to "develop" this trick on their own. Sometimes, spending cash is the best option... Good Luck

Today was pretty exciting. Story and a question.

I too am working on sponge balls! I love them, but they are a good tool and challenge to learn hand skills. Many moves cross over to coin magic. As everyone said, Mark Wilson's book is great, it is a must have, I cannot put it down.... but don't point to your hand on sponge balls or coins as...

    Floating cigarette

I have watched to many of my family members, friends, and associates die from tobacco use. I just hate seeing young folks fall into the same traps we all fell into. Glamorizing these things is harmful as it adds to the positive message that smoking is somehow cool or ok....OK enough...

    Card Palms

For me it is not really a matter of "palming" concerns but a matter of strength. I am 65 and injured my right hand twice between my thumb and pointing finger. That joint is a painful mess as arthritis has started. I could have surgery but it takes 6mo to recover and then it will be really...

    Card Palms

Get some 'Bridge' cards as they are 1/4 inch less wide than a regular deck (Poker Decks). I have smaller hands and am now moving to Bridge cards for the same reason.

February: What are you working on?

I am working on sponge ball magic, simple stuff that requires slight of hand and lots of practice. From this I will start doing some coin work using some of the same hand work....this all is just fundamental classical magic and I am determined to get very good at it...in time. I have a couple...

Your Best & Worst Performance Pieces

Thanks, I saw that in his book, but I am also using a DVD that shows a number of techniques. I am slowly getting it so it looks natural, that is the challenge after all with all hand work, is that it must be smooth, quick, and natural....takes tons of practice.

    New to magic help please

I just started back into magic at 65 years old. I began when I was around 10 and stopped when I started high school. So you are never to young or to old! Based on recommendation by members on this forum I went onto Amazon.com and found a used copy of Mark Wilson's, Complete Course in Magic...
