    New gambling demo video!

I would also strive for something with a patter. Not just productions without context. This is a gambling demonstration I really like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjcVwBUnLA When demoing moves for criticism, I wouldn`t go with borderless decks as even weak executed moves look "better" than...

    No books on Theory11

There are books which come with a DVD. Everything is explained in the book, and the DVD shows some of the tricks in front of an audience(performance only). IMO, that`s the way it should be nowadays. Best of both worlds. The detailed explanations in the book, with additional tips and remarks...

I don`t care much whether others learn from DVDs or books. Each to his own. This will keep the good stuff secret. What makes me sad is that crediting is totally out of control in todays media. When kids with absolutely zero knowledge about the history of magic credit a move or effect they have...

What a bummer! Did you receive my message ? Every time I send a private message, my Sent Items folder is empty afterwards.

I´m talking about the book "Our Magic",which was one of the first books on magic theory ;) It`s one of the old classics. You will not get a first edition for a reasonable price, but it`s a steal as an e-book http://www.lybrary.com/our-magic-p-138.html. Not to be confused with the kickstarter...

It gets really hard when it comes to things such as presentation and magic theory. Strong Magic, Our Magic, Designing Miracles or The Structural Conception of Magic on DVD ??? Not really ;)

Yes, books don`t sell well. E-books don`t eat up much space however and are cheaper to produce than anything else. Everybody can produce an e-book (just not a good one lol). The truth is, people want videos. Physical book are often years in the making and don`t sell very good. Some places...

    Completely False Hindu Shuffle?

The G.W.Hunter Shuffle also works as a Hindu Version. AFAIK Lennart Green has a version of a full deck shuffle called "Circulation Shuffle" in a Hindu Style Variation. But I don`t know excactly, I never use a Hindu shuffle.

    List of Awesome Books

You have an excellent taste Steerpike. Robert E.Howard and H.P. Lovecraft, along with Clark Ashton Smith, are three of my favorite authors ;) "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" is my favorite book (novel) of all time. Bar none. I´ve read it more than 50 times. Every time I reread it I find...

    List of Awesome Books

If you have built a good library, you will NEVER EVER need any single DVD. The DVDs I own are just for performances. I don`t think it`s hard to find great books today. It`s easier than ever to find good quaity books. The problem is to decide which to choose. There are TONS of quality books. Far...

    Sources

I think the most obvious choice is youtube. There are tons of life performances, even from the old giants of the past (Charlie Miller, Dai Vernon, Arturo de Ascanio, Fred Kaps, Derek Dingle, Tommy Wonder, Ken Krenzel, Slydini, Cardini, Larry Jennings., Michael Skinner... ) and giants who are...

    Most Influential Card Magician?

Hmm, impossible to answer. Influenced the art in what ways? Making it more popular ? I also think there are magicians who have inflenced the art.... in a bad way. In Europe, the most influencal magician (in a good way), without a doubt, is Juan Tamariz. Again, impossible to answer. Highly...

Raising the bar in card magic

But isn`t "meaning" something highly individual ? Something that Ricky does in his show for example could be of importance to me because there are parallels to my life, just not yours. It would have a meaning to me, just not for you. What do you mean by deeper meaning ? I think even...

    giving the spectator to shuffle

And say something like: "Let`s do it the Casino Way" or something like that to give a clarification why they should shuffle that way and mime a riffle shuffle. I don`t think it`s mandatory in America, but where I live a riffle shuffle is not used much in private games. Give someone a deck of...

The tricks with the best reactions

I like OOTW, too. Especially impromptu versions where the spectator can shuffle an ordinary deck before are very effective. My favorite card-trick of all time is probably "Total Coincidence" by Juan Tamariz.

    Unnecessary moves

But it doesn`t matter if learning more is better or not. If you like practicing moves, who cares ? As an amateur, my personal satisfaction is important, isn`t it ?

    Unnecessary moves

I think any move is only useful in context. A magician is in a completly different situation than a card cheat. Even someone who does gambling demonstrations is in a different situation than a professional card cheat. I think I read that somewhere in an interview with Jason England, or Paul...

    Gimmick Decks VS. Regular Deck

I actually do 2 routines with a double backer. Both are no self-workers and sleight of hand is required. The construction of both is good enough that the idea of a gimmicked card shouldn`t even come to mind, and both end clean. So why do people think gaffed cards are for beginners only? I...
