    very simple sandwich effect

what a pointless nit-picky thing to say. How he shuffles the cards is unimportant. I riffle shuffle better than Wayne Houchin does, but that's irrelevant. It's the magic that's important. Why do people always focus on the negatives even when the positives far outweigh it. If anything...

    very simple sandwich effect

I like that dude. Nice one. I'll admit, took me a couple of times to get how it works (not that it's that important) and I must say, a nice bit of lateral thinking there. Works differently to most sandwich effects, and you didn't complicate the visual with pointless flourishes/moves. Good job...

Why "FREAKING OUT" isn't always the best reaction...

In my opinion, the best reaction is laughter. Freaking out/scaring/ inducing some extreme emotional reaction in the spectator is not my aim. If they are laughing, it means they are having a good time. And with all the cr@p going on in the world today, that is a great thing. Peace Rev

    Magic and You

Never a truer word said. Magic for other magicians means nothing to me. I don't know many tricks (Only maybe, one...) that would impress or fool people on this forum, or even someone with an intermediate knowledge of magic, but i don't care. Every trick I do regularly works wonders on laymen...

I learned a very valuable lesson tonight

All so true. it's all very well knowing seventeen million incredibly flashy ways to control a chosen card to the top to impress you magician mates, but in the real world a double undercut is good enough. Also, a lot of really easy stuff is often to referred to as 'beginner tricks' by more...

    DO IT AGAIN! *leans closer*

What I do is normally just say, "I'll tell you what, I'll show you something even better" and then spread out the cards for them to take one Once they realise something is going to happen they will quickly forget about what they were saying and start paying attention to what you are doing. If...

Triple Jump - my first original (possibly) routine...

I'll take everything you said into account, but I've been doing this magic lark a long time. This was actually tried out on a bunch people before this film was made and it really seems to impress laymen It's not going to impress you magician folk as it's not technical, but all i can say is that...

Triple Jump - my first original (possibly) routine...

You're right there! I've been doing magic 15 years and yet I still can't seem to do a perfect elmsley count! It seems to work on laymen, as I've never had anyone question it, but it could definitely be better! I always seem to have trouble pulling off the first single card. I've been learning...

Triple Jump - my first original (possibly) routine...

Thats exactly what I'm all about! Simple method allows for lot less handling and very clear moments of magic. Cheers Rev

Triple Jump - my first original (possibly) routine...

Thanks guys! The positive comments are much appreciated. Oh, and chriswiehl, you are right. Every time I practiced this effect i kept that packet isolated, have no idea why i decided to put it back on the deck when I recorded it! As far as letting the spectator spread the deck at the end...

Triple Jump - my first original (possibly) routine...

I came up with this the other night whilst in the bath, just wanted to see what you all thought of it (be nice!!). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GKaylsqfPQ I know it probably isn't that original as there is nothing groundbreaking in it, but I was quite proud of myself for coming up with...

    Twilight Angels Question

I've been doing this effect for about three years now and recently met up with someone who I showed it to about a year and a half ago and they still have the signed card in their purse. So I would definitely recommend getting the card signed and letting them keep it. I also tell them the card...

    Reputation Makers: What's Yours?

Mine has to be the 'Sloppy Shuffle Trimph' as it seems to be called these days. I learnt it from Royal Road to Card Magic when I was 13 (about 10 years ago now!) where it is called 'A Tipsy Trick' and the other night I actually had someone request it, and say it was their favourite trick that I...

How did you get started in magic?

It's so funny how most of you state you started magic when you we really young cos you saw a magician, but didn't start doing anything until a year ago when you found ellusionist. Technically you didn't really start until a year ago then! Pretending you started really young doesn't make you any...

    I Think I Made a Boo Boo - Wounded

Here's a wacky idea. Seen as Theory 11 is about advancing the art of magic, how about you try and come up with your own way of doing it? You must have seen the trick, so you have a vague idea of how it should look, now just use you're imagination a bit. You may come up with something way better...
