    A bit of a challenge

The first would be the only effect for the entire show: "Chronomadic" in T.A. Water's Mind, Myth and Magik. A guest at a house party in your home (or a home of a friend) becomes fascinated by an old photograph of a man standing by a chair which has a single rose. You explain that the man is...

    Help on a Beginner's Routine

Magician: I'm going to shuffle the cards. Assistant: I'm going to shuffle the cards. [Magician shuffles, bridges, triple cuts, does seven faces of Sybil, and smiles at assistant]. Magician: In my own unique way.... This allows the assistant to shuffle any way they want to and gets a laugh.

    The Spanish School Of Magic

I think the difference is the level of emphasis. A lot of books tell you how to do the move, but if you look at Card College it provides how to do the move (with the least movement), how to make the move look natural and how to cover the move. Another example is the theory in Tamariz's Five...

    Help on a Beginner's Routine

That's interesting. I've actually found that most people can't do an overhand shuffle. I did think that the riffle shuffle without a table might be hard for some people. You could substitute a weave shuffle (just pushing the two halves of the deck together) or a cut. If you have the right...

Coin gimmicks make me so frustrated.

So my gaffed coins are all Roy Kueppers coins. I've got Scotch and Soda, Coin Bite, a quarter turtle (I had to do some searching to figure out what you were talking about with turtles and dolphins) and some antique Chinese coins. I've never had any issues with quality. Will probably pick up a...

    Math Magic!!

I'll be honest, the math was well beyond my abilities. There are some good tricks in there, but unless you really like math, there are better books to get.

    Math Magic!!

If you like math, there is a great book by Persi Diaconis called Magical Mathematics. It has mathematical formulas and all.

    Top change help.

What are you using as your source to learn it from? There should be very little finger movement and it should be an "in-transit" move where the larger motion covers the smaller sleight.

    Help on a Beginner's Routine

Kenneth: I like where you are going with this, but you have tried to cram too much into the routine. Faulkner said, “In writing, you must kill all your darlings.” My apologies in advance for what I'm about to do to some of your darlings with my metaphorical chainsaw. For starters, get rid of...

Saturday Night Contest - Resolutions for 2020!

In 2019, the exhaustion from all the other areas of my life emanated into my magic. Don't get me wrong, there have been many wonderful things in 2019 and I am very fortunate in life. However, the effort put into other things in life left little mental stamina for doing the heavy lifts I need...

    The Spanish School Of Magic

It is actually the Escuela Magica De Madrid which translates as the Madrid School Of Magic. See definition - https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/school "a group of persons who hold a common doctrine or follow the same teacher (as in philosophy, theology, or medicine)" and "a group of...

    Rough and smooth cards,

What are you trying to accomplish? I don't think rough and smooth will do what you think it will do and there are probably better ways to get to where you need.

Beginners thoughts on tricks vs routines

You are not alone. @Steerpike (there are probably six or fewer people on the forums that remember him) used to always say that a performance has to answer the question "why should the audience care?" What you see on YouTube is "look at what I can do" magic. It is easy to to see the...

The e-mail response was about the four spins he was entitled to from making a purchase... not because he (just like the rest of us) only got no reward or some Elite points.

    Gaff deck query?

Matt: Welcome to the forums and welcome back to magic. Feel free to ask any questions if you need direction where to begin (again) in learning. I'm stumped on the gaff deck, but haven't given up. Do you have some pictures?
