    Appearance for a magician

Ontological reductionism: Some claims about reductionism concern things in the world, such as objects, properties, and events. These claims state that one thing or set of things can be reduced to some other, more basic thing or set of things. It isn't a straw man or false dichotomy based on...

    Appearance for a magician

See Giobbi's distinction between effects and themes: https://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php?title=Card_Magic_Classification#Giobbi.27s_Basic_Effects_of_Card_Magic That is just card magic. Similar lists can be done for other types of magic. But, the study that Antonio did: Card tricks...

    Beginner magician tips

Much better to have over 1,000 books even if you haven't read them all. I believe Card College by Roberto Giobbi is translated into Italian. Giobbi speaks multiple languages fluently and the book has been published in most of those languages.

    Appearance for a magician

If you are talking appearance, disappearance, transformation.... then yes. But spectators don't see magic like that. They see the plot of an effect. A person disappearing while standing on a chair as a flag is waived in front of them isn't the same as a coin disappearing in a magician's...

    Appearance for a magician

Depends on your persona / character. The question is whether the ring looks out of place with everything else you are wearing. However, if you look like Liberace or Tom Brady it might be too much. Why not? I like to have different watches depending on my mood. I think the difference is...

The nerves won today and I hate myself

It's like saying, "I ran a bunch of half marathons a couple of years ago, and yesterday when I tried to run a 5K I had to stop after the first mile." You can't expect to perform if you don't practice. Practice isn't just learning the moves and the presentation. It is convincing yourself...

How can I make out of I am still a beginner at card magic?

I'm still a beginner. The more you learn, the less you realize you know.

    Classic Force

Treat it as if it doesn't matter. Have something else you can do if it fails. That way it really doesn't matter. Practice it with your eyes closed. If you don't look at the cards and don't look nervous, the spectator won't notice anything. Spread the cards with your hands toward you and...

    Children’s Magic

My advice would be to go to David Ginn's Youtube Channel and start watching his performances of the various tricks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUOgG9GpQhkt4F4dHukKnXw David is a classic children's performer. He does a lot of the "look-don't-see" effects. I saw David lecture 10 years ago...

    USPCC sold to Cartamundi group

Interesting. Jardin acquired USPCC in 2004 and Newell acquired Jardin in 2015. Is it too much to hope for that they will allow certain gaffs (Twilight Angels) to be made again using Bicycle like they used to?

What will magic look like in the future?

That feeling scares the $#!% out of me. Noted and on the to buy list. Different Denny's -- no eggs and pancakes -- but, yes... your local magic shop works too. [Drops mic. Leaves room. Just silence. Then a single person stands up and begins a slow clap. The rest of the audience joins...

What will magic look like in the future?

Occupational hazard. I think the learning technique you use is right, but the motivation is wrong. A focus on not flashing causes tension in your movements and often a subconscious glance at your hands -- especially in those beginning magic. When the "silent script" (what you say in your mind...

I'm glad you didn't bust out the cards on the first day and introduce yourself as "Mr. Magic" to everyone. Find an effect like Woody Aragon's 10 card poker deal and do it for a bunch of friends on a weekend night. "I'm sort of feeling lucky tonight... anyone want to play a game?" Make...

Houchin's lecture was great, but his show was better. I did a workshop with Jeff McBride and a workshop with Dani DaOrtiz. Both were was amazing. Greg Wilson's lecture was a lot of fun. Shoot Ogawa was great (I should have bought the gold Ninja Rings...). Aaron Fisher was hilarious - he...
