YOU DON'T GET TO KNOW HOW IT WORKS!

I strongly disagree. If the audience doesn't care about the method, you have entertained them. To me, that is like saying if you see an Avengers move and don't care about how the special effects are done, the movie has failed you. I go for "I can't believe he did that" rather than "I wonder...

    self working principles

I doubt you could get any lesser known than the Melberth principle because I’ve never heard of that one. The way to accumulate knowledge regarding self working effects is to study the effects themselves. Start with Scarne and Fulves, then move on to Bannon”s Destination Zero, Nick Troast's work...

For the Ogawa videos, it is what @obrienmagic said. I'd start with the L&L World's Greatest Magic. It will give you a lot of good presentation ideas. The Biro Book is more exhaustive in historical research and you will probably be overwhelmed. The Levent DVDs are expensive and focused on the...

Linking Rings and the Curious Case of “I Don’t Know What I’m Doing”.

Wow. You getting Tenyo rings. How surprising. :) As @obrienmagic said, it is a matter of making the adjustments to the techniques to work with the rings. Mostly it is about angles and ability to cover the actual linking. The ability to cover is easier with smaller rings. Some resources...

What does everyone think of this trick.

A nice simple method for a sandwich effect. I don't think the spreading the cards on the floor and mixing them up after you have removed the aces adds anything to the effect.
