    Double Lift Convincers

I think that a flourish showing that something is a single card has the effect of showing that you are trying to show that you have a single card which means you don't have a single card because you wouldn't have to show you had a single card if you actually did.

    Stars of Magic

An amazing piece of history -- the 1940's equivalent of an instant download -- magic by mail. Triumph, Ambitious Card and so much more. Vernon's Impromptu Cups & Balls is amazing. It is truly the "stars" in that book. One of my favorites.

    Your Definition of Magic ??

Magic is the ability to reflect your thoughts and emotions through someone else's perception of what is not reality.

    Faulty Mechanic's Grip

Change it. With the index finger on the side, you will have greater tension in your grip (to keep the cards from going forward) and the deck won't "float" in your the way is supposed to.

The essential dai vernon and other classic magic books

Those are both great books. Vernon's material is amazing and Slydini has a uniquely effective style. Right now, I've got Blomberg Laboratories and Marlo's Arcade dreams next to me for pleasure reading.

    Magic Interfering with my Relationship

Sometimes, the people closest to us can see things we can't or won't. If they care about us, they tell us what they see. Always listen with your heart to someone who tells you something from their heart. It is very easy to let one thing in life consume all of our time and attention. We are...

How do you carry your coins?

For performances, I use a small velvet drawstring bag. The coins I use are not everyday coins and to me the velvet bag seems more magical. I got the bag I that I use when I bought a necklace for my wife that had an old (like 1500s) Spanish coin as the centerpiece.

How do you carry your coins?

But you have to be careful not to accidentally spend the coin bite quarter.

    Performing too clean and flashy.

I think there is a difference between competently handling the cards and being flashy. The most flashy I get is a thumb fan and a swing cut. I try not do do any excessive handling of the cards. I want the audience to remember that I didn't do anything out of the ordinary.

    Fake quotes

Overheard at the First International Conference on the Naming and Crediting of Magical Sleights: "I named it the Ghost Count" - Alex Elmsley "It should have been the 199th force" - Henry Christ "I invented that one" - Harry Lorraine "But I came up with 30 variations" - Ed Marlo "It's not '2...

Just a thought of a neat effect that popped in my head

Check out Jay Sankey's In a Flash -- I linked to Chris Ballinger's performance just because I like his style and how he interacts with his wife Rachel. It reminds me of how our significant others react to our magic.

Magic props that look like ancient artifacts?

There is a great routine in T.A. Waters Mind Myth and Magik involving an old jewelry chest and several talismans. I have an old china tea pot that I'm going to use for my Any Drink Called For routine. I have a lot of ordinary stuff in my magic closet that I've picked up that looks cool, has...

    Brainwave or Invisible Deck ?????

The invisible deck is better as an "out." No matter what, the card that is turned over matches the card from the deck you are using. As a stand alone effect, the real issue is whether you think the effect is more powerful on its own (thought of card reversed in deck) compared to performing...

If you don't mind please check out this clip and critique my pass

Looks good. The main thing to focus on is the movement of your right hand. The cover for the pass is that you are squaring the cards. That is typically done in a single motion. The way you are doing the pass is in two motions -- the squaring of the cards and then the pass. That is a classic...

    Expert at the Card Table

@ChristopherT nailed it. If you are starting out, there are better sources to learn from. If you do get the book, I'd recommend getting Vernon's Revelations or Ortiz's Annotated Erdnase. That takes the book and provides some context and analysis.
