Practicing in the Hands.... without spectators

lol Yeah, that's what I've been doing but there are 2 complications. A) Even if it's a friend or family member, I doubt I could do that for more than 5 minutes. B) Wouldn't I end up revealing an effect like Odyssey, or any other effect really, after 5 minutes of constantly doing the same move in...

Practicing in the Hands.... without spectators

Thanks! But I was talking more so for stuff that happens in the spectators hands. Eg. Miracle Change, a move in Odyssey (if you have it), Top Change and hand out, etc.

Practicing in the Hands.... without spectators

How should one go about practicing in the hands routines and tricks without spectators? I mean, I could obviously put the card on the table, but it's not really the same is it? Since I can't really learn how to hide something from a table, if that makes any since. Also, what about practicing...

Fun idea that i need some help with! :)

... It's a coin purse... even then, its just the metal part of it. Go back to the 1st post and read it, and watch the video. Then you will understand lol.

What to do when someone approaches you for tricks

I think another important thing is knowing if they actually want you to perform. If your out with some friends, and you meet someone new, and someone finds out you do magic, and they ask you to do a trick, a lot of times it is simply because they know your a magician, not because they want to...

Fun idea that i need some help with! :)

I think mini handcuffs and the Bee's Knees are the only 2 really plausible. I mean, the bag is smaller than a coin purse. The Bee's Knees one is gold :D

    Illusion books

I agree. I am looking through Tarbell right now (I think it is only volume one). It has a ton of stuff in it. Granted, you are going to have to save up for it (the full collection is like $250, the first volume is $35), but it is definitely going to be worth it.

Fun idea that i need some help with! :)

1 problem with that. If the spectator is allergic to peanuts, and you miss, and it hits their arm, they get a rash. Plus, it would freak them out about it (not to mention that's like a 1 time thing). I would advise against this.

    Illusion books

I was just saying you could buy those effects and present them as illusions. Just like how in some effects, I can use a gimmick and present it as skill (though I personally would never do this).

Close-up magician...what to perform on stage?

The patter needs to be good, but at the same time, it shouldn't be boring. The patter should just kinda... flow. And beyond that, if you are making a routine, you can easily do 5 - 6 effects. Just figure out how much you can and cannot do. Some effects take 5 or more minutes. Others take 2...

Close-up magician...what to perform on stage?

There is no way 550 people can see a close up effect. You will probably need to either A) Take some close up effects and move them into larger effects. Eg. Take a simple in the hands trick that is hard hitting and do it with multiple people. B) Learn some other strong illusions and make a...

    Illusion books

Most websites end up being more so for close up magic. It is pretty weird selling larger illusions on the modern market, but when they are released, the result is usually phenomenal. It's kinda like the old dude from the one ad during all the games. (Market speaking): I don't always release...

Pinky Count / Double lift drills to do

I think your break may be to big. Try doing it with just the tip or face of the pinky.

Close-up magician...what to perform on stage?

Wait 2 tricks lasting for 15 minutes? That seems way to little. You could put on a full show. I would say do some sponge balls, because everybody loves those. Will probably take you 5 minutes or so. Then you can go into some card magic. How big is the audience/venue? Remember, spectators don't...

Pinky Count / Double lift drills to do

The pinky is supposed to hold the break as you relax it. Essentially, the cards will square up over the pinky allowing you to hold the break. How deep do you hold your breaks? With a Pinky count, it is important to have the break not deep. In fact, that goes for pretty much all pinky breaks.

    Illusion books

Well, if your looking for more so smaller stage stuff (or actually any scenario), I would pick up Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic. It is a pretty well rounded beginner's guide. It only costs 3 - 12 or so US dollars. Check "other sellers" on Amazon, I picked mine up very cheaply there. You...

    Bottled by Taiwan Ben Impromptu

But what I am saying is that a thumb tip is a very versatile utility you can use for many things. You were not planning to do a specific effect, you just knew you could do something with it. Whereas with this gimmick, there is a very specific effect, with a very specific list of cans and...

    Bottled by Taiwan Ben Impromptu

    A) This is a random opinion from the cafe B) It literally says it can be performed impromptu, not that the trick in and of itself is impromptu. C) Let's take that as the actual definition. Look at it from this angle: If you did not expect to perform it, why would you carry the gimmick around...

    Card trick routine for beginner

I agree. 52Kards is probably the best free visual resource for anyone.
