Is the Papercrane production different than Theory's? the trailers make it look like two completely different productions. just curioous.

    Christmas!

The thing about Genesis is that it teaches the ESSENTIALS. Stuff that all flourishers, no matter their "style" will need to know. the essential one hand cuts, shuffles, springs, etc... Jikh does teach original material, yes, but even if you're against using his material, their are enough...

    Christmas!

    3. Are the books above good? I have ECT in ebook form, so I don't know if I really want the book, but it's handy. Any additional book recommendations would be nice. I would still get it in book form. who knows if your computer will break down or not and you lose all your files. plus it's...

    Top Change Help

I'm still working on this myself, but something I've noticed, when holding the deck in mechanics grip, lighten up on the left thumb a little bit, the one that holds down the card (not really "hold down" but you know what I mean) when doing the move and there won't be much of a click if any...

I second the Reality Is Plastic and Manchurian Approach recommendations. Phenomenal.

    David Blaine Tricks Help?

There's nothing wrong with wanting to know how to do the tricks the David Blaine. What is wrong is the whole "Me Against The World" attitude that goes on here. This is a community of magicians, helping each other to progress rather than compete in a non-existing competition. I'm not pointing...

    Entertainment!

Enough Blaine bashing. The man knows what he's talking about when it comes to magic. He knows what real magic is about. He did retreat to Colorado with Paul Harris after to study and reflect on it after all. His performance is his performance. I think when it comes to a well studied artist, when...

    Frozen Help

This is one of the most magical effects I have ever seen. The only thing holding it back is the practicality. Learning of the gimmick was one of the most impressive things I've seen in a good while. I'd love to continue working with it and eventually find a practical way to make the gimmick work.

    Is magic art?

I agree. Give a kid a paintbrush, it won't make him an artist and it won't make what he just created a piece of art. Give Van Gogh a paintbrush and now you might be on to something. Sometimes a painting is just a painting.

    Why So Much Sensitivity?

It personally bothers me as well. So I agree with you. It also kills the creative juices when you're being brought down over all of the little things. Why would anyone want to post a video of themselves, something as vulnerable as that, when they're getting torn down about posting "Happy...

    Must have in your collection...

well, we do already have a recent "essential book" thread... if that defends your case anymore. A few DVD's that I find essential, and if I were to start over with my collection, I would keep. True Astonishment - Paul Harris... Absolutely incredible set. Also includes just about all of my...

    David Blaine

Well first off, a brilliant mind in magic does not always fall under what you have created. Brilliance has to do with what you know about the art, etc... I've heard the man speak on the subject many times, and it's unbelievable, his insight. He seems to have a reason for everything he does. A...

    Essential Books?

Well, book 3, physically, is the biggest of the 3, if you want to judge by quantity. And I've also been known to use the effects from this book the most. But the whole series will last you a life time if used properly. They're probably all near equal in originality, it's Paul Harris we're...

    Essential Books?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your question. Would you mind rephrasing for me? I personally really enjoyed Book 3. It's the thickest. I wouldn't go out and say it's the best. You will find a gold-mine of material in each volume, that you will use. If it's not the effect, it's a...

    New Paper Crane Magic

Both of Shane's effects with papercrane look absolutely incredible. A lot of promise.

    Essential Books?

Personally that'd be hard to choose, but I will do a quick run through of each book and my favorite effects and ideas from them, and you can choose from there. Volume 1. First off, there's an essay by Paul Harris about astonishment that I think everyone should read. Very inspiring...
