    Deck ID

The diagrams appear to show how to do a double lift with a short card (much easier than a regular double) and to change the card for the double. It also seems to show how to do a backflip force. To re-cap, we have a one-way, marked deck where the cards are alternated with regular black cards...

    Deck ID

My sense is that allows you to utilize the short card principle regardless of whether you use a riffle or Hindu shuffle. Essentially, combining a short-side short and a long-side short.

@Maaz Hasan , you are correct, except for the King K_________ Q___ J___10 9___ 8___ 7 6___ 5___ 4 3___ 2___A For the suit, it is the inner most set of dots to the left of the Octopus. The first from the bottom is irrelevant, the second is Spades, third is Clubs, fourth is Hearts and Fifth is...

Are the cuts on the side of the red cards straight or slanted like a stripper deck cut?

    Deck ID

Hmmm. As Meatloaf says, three out of four ain't bad. Can you post the back of a 3, 5, 6, 9 and Queen?

    Deck ID

The number system is a bit archaic. I know the first one is a King. I think the second one is a Queen and the third is an Ace.

Top row is Clubs, Diamonds and Spades Second Row is a Joker. I'm still working on values.

    Performing Magic for Kids

I'm going to go back to my distinction between card tricks and tricks with cards. A vanish, appearance or color change is a trick with cards. Having a selected card go to a box, bottle, wallet, pocket, etc. is a trick with cards. Invisible Deck can play either way. Locating the aces is a...

Book on the Theory of Artifice and Subterfuge?

Are you looking for theory regarding designing effects, performance or the psychology of magic? Also, is your focus close-up, parlor or stage? When you say illusionist, I think you are talking about the design of large stage illusions. Is that what you are looking for or is it something else...

    Deck ID

They do appear to be marked. The first semi circle of dots inside the top part (as if the design is an octopus) of the circle appears to signify suit. Notice on the upper card the first dot is larger and on the lower card the second dot is larger. The inner set of dots (closest to the...

Do you have tipps for stand up magic?

That was an amazing performance. I just love the use of the ID to do what looks like a Triumph routine using a martini shaker. That is the sort of thinking that takes a trick and makes it a presentation piece. Roberto Giobbi has a great book Stand Up Card Magic. There also are some great...

    Performing Magic for Kids

So let me begin with a caveat to my earlier post. The props that look like they came from a magic shop with the Silly Billy type presentation may work for the under 6 crowd. I don't perform for that age group, so I can't comment. For children's magic, I like classic effects: Linking Rings...

    I am very sad

At its most basic, magic is a secret that the performer wraps in a mystery. Without the mystery, a performance becomes on;uabout the secret. Larry Haas has a great book called Transformations: Turning Tricks into Magic. I'd recommend it to you. It will give you an understanding of what you...

    Magic Lessons.

It depends on the lecture. At a lecture by Aaron Fisher, he walked around the room making sure everyone was doing his nowhere pass correctly. I've been at workshops with folks like Dani DaOrtiz, Jeff McBride, Kainoa Hardbottle / Dan Watkins / Eric Jones and Marc DeSouza where it was true...

Who do you think is the best magic teacher today?

@trapeze, Richard has contributed quite a lot and I love his books. Others to consider in that category are Stephen Minch who has written so many beautiful books, Eugene Burger who has done so much on the presentation of magic as well as Jim Steinmeyer, Jack Gaughn and Mike Cavney who have done...

Who do you think is the best magic teacher today?

The concept would be that the book provides practical applications of theory in the context of designing a set, show, act, etc. Although you would think that a magician and a mentalist would approach things from different perspectives, ultimately Christopher and I approach both magic and...

    I am very sad

You've been given bad advice from YouTube (presumably from Chris Ramsay). Have you actually tried any of those techniques? What was the result? I've been using my techniques for years and I really don't have problems with hecklers. To build on what you said, most spectators who ask to...

    I am very sad

Never give up control of YOUR performance. How about saying, "Yes, before the next trick" or "Of course... in a bit." Better to design your performance so that the audience sees the deck is already shuffled, see that it appears to be a normal deck, etc.
