    Spread pass help

Ziad~ I think that @ChrisJGJ, @ChristopherT and I all said your basic technique is very good and made a couple of suggestions. Chris said to increase your speed, Christopher said not to cover the deck as much and I suggested a more open handling. We've all suggested comparing the spread pass...

    Street magic questions.

Completely agree. It's too dangerous. If I had a dollar for every spectator that got run over when I was performing for them them in the road.... Seriously, don't perform in the road, that is what sidewalks, lawns and parks are for. If you think about it, it should be called "Sidewalk Magic"...

Duplicate signature from an audience member

The version in Card College presents a subterfuge to get a spectator to initial two cards while thinking that they ony signed one card twice. Giobbi credits Richard Sanders with parallel creation. I suspect Marlo had at least 6 methods... A similar method is on Sankey's Revolutionary Card...

    After some advice

I always go with buying more books... but that's just me. But seriously, I'm with @Maaz Hasan on this one. Card College all the way to relearn the basics. BUT... you might treat yourself one new book... you know some candy. Some books to check out are Bannon's High Caliber...

    Mnemonica

I've read Mnemonica but haven't taken the time to really learn the stack. Too much else going on in my life. The effects in the book are amazing and I will get around to it someday. Just get Mnemonica. That, an old deck of card and a sharpie are all you need to learn it. Tamariz teaches a...

    Spread pass help

@Ziad Khayat, I'm trying to convey that often less handling is more magical for spectators. Just because you can do something (like transfering the break or an all round square) doesn't mean you should. Much of the problem I see with YouTube magicians is the incessant fidgiting with the...

    Spread pass help

From a mechanical standpoint, your pass is good. My concern is all the other futzing you do with the cards. For example, from :08 to :14 the squaring the short side of the deck after reinserting the card and the transfer from a little finger break to a thumb break. the waiving the deck around...

Most of my autographs are from books that I've purchased from the magicians at lectures or otherwise.

List of Card Magic Books that use no sleight of hand or use of subtle moves.

Without knowing your specific limitations, I suspect that there are some sleight of hand moves that you can do. If you can do a basic spread, riffle shuffle, overhand shuffle and deal cards, there are a multitude of sleights and controls available to you. Rene Lavand performed with only one...

List of Card Magic Books that use no sleight of hand or use of subtle moves.

Scarne on Card Tricks is a career's worth of self-working magic. Giobbi's Light, Lighter and Lightest are great. With Steve Beam, start with Volume 1 and see if you like it. Can I ask why you have such an interest in self-working effects?

    Hello! I'm new to theory11

I second @Maaz Hasan's list with one substitution - Scarne on Card Tricks instead of Card College Light,. Here is what I would suggest to begin with: Mark Wilson's Complete Course Scarne on Card Tricks Royal Road to Card Magic Bobo's Modern Coin Magic From there, we can recommend ohter books...

List of Card Magic Books that use no sleight of hand or use of subtle moves.

I think your list is pretty complete. To find other "self working" effects you would have to start listing effects within books. My favorites that were mentioned are: Scarne on Card Tricks (best investment in any book ever) Encyclopedia of Card Tricks (more so for the use of gaffs and...

    Just introducing myself

Welcome. Most of my performances are parlor shows. The one book that I would recommend to build a parlor show is Jim Steinmeyer's Conjuring Anthology. I have a lot of Steinmeyer effects that I use in my show (including two from Conjuring Anthology, two from his recent Genii Columns and one...

"X Marks The Spot" FREE DOWNLOAD in the MARKETPLACE!!!

The effect is identical to Mark Wilson's "The Double X Mystery" in Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic with the only exception that Mark uses two spectators to mark the cards rather than the magician and the spectator.

What to do when someone approaches you for tricks

@RealityOne So many recommendations! Thanks. I already have Royal Road to Card Magic is Royal Road to Card Tricks a different book? I already do Poker Player's Picnic as a prelude to a different four ace production, but I'll be sure to dogear the rest of the effects you mentioned. Same book...

Practicing in the Hands.... without spectators

How about using your other hand? When I work with sleights that require me loading something into someone's hand, I practice it using my other hand. That is, my right hand practices putting two sponge balls into my left hand.

What to do when someone approaches you for tricks

@OsakaMidnight - Get a book called Scarne on Card Tricks. My favorites in there are Calling the Cards, Upside Down Deck, Travelling Aces, You Do as I Do (One Deck), Swimmers, Nomenclature and The Betting Card Trick. Also get the book Royal Road to Card Tricks. My favorites there are Intuition...

Ultimately, it has to be someone that is willing to help you and give you feedback. And yes, you do end up exposing the effect.
