    New Magic Shop

Brick and mortar shops are quickly vanishing so to speak. We've had 3 in our area and we are down to 1 and even that is in some guys basement with showcases. You are right. Internet prices are tough to beat but I'd buy an item from a brick and mortar shop owner any day when he or she demo's it...

    Banding Together

Nicely done. I perform a lot, and 9 times out of 10 it is a paid gig, however, there was a gig that I did for a family that had a death in the family of their new baby and needed help with some medical costs. I along with two other entertainers helped raise money for the family. It made me feel...

    Fear of getting caught

One's fear of getting caught will go away when you learn that building your rapport with your audience can vastly improve your entertainment value. Once they see that you are not trying to "fool" them, that you are just having "fun" and entertain them, they really don't care if you accidentally...

    Balloon Swallowing

Qualatex 260's are what most people use. Can be purchased at Tmyers or LaRocks. It will require just one second of prep but I cannot get into that due to exposure.

    Casino Dealing

You better know the game pretty darn well and keep it moving fast pace. You also need to know lots of strategy because first time players are going to ask you "What's the Book Say to Do?" You should read "said" book on Black Jack. I will tell you right now you better be pretty darn good at...

    Good M.C. Bits Book

Hey Everyone, As I am beginning to book more and more stage shows as opposed to my birthday parties and strolling I am finding I need more funny lines, transition lines, stories and such. Are there any good books / resources as far as M.C. Bits and One Liners? I currently have Harry...

    Run out of ideas

I will echo Reality's thoughts on getting TARBELL and start reading. Also...network...network...network. You need to spend time jamming with other magicians and bouncing ideas of other people. Everyone wants the fast lane to stardom by releasing a "great" trick. Guess what? There is a lot more...

Using someone else's music in a performance

As mentioned by others...you should get the license, but 90 percent of us myself including do not because we are hobbyist or semi-professional magicians and not making thousands upon thousands of dollars. If I play some popular music while performing a birthday party show in a garage...I'm...

    My Magic

It takes you practically 30 seconds to get the cards out of the box and show it empty. That needs to be cut in half or you are already losing interest from half your spectators. If you were doing this at a restaurant or wedding reception with dancing going on and music you've already missed...

Getting Quotes and Sending Thank You Cards

Luis, that is kind of a cool idea as well. Thanks for sharing. As far as what to put on the thank you card, I would say any of the following would be great: Thank them for hiring you Tell them how much fun you had at their event Give any specific details of a great reaction to one of your...

    Sleight Help Needed!

Here is a basic easy method: Have the spectator select their card, have them place it back on top of the lower stock which should be in your left hand, place the remaining top stock (which is in your right hand) on top of the bottom stock and keep your pinky break. Double undercut or use any...

Getting Quotes and Sending Thank You Cards

Nobody else sends thank you cards? Or do we not have many performers here? I'm just curious because I thought this was a useful thread and not many people chimed in.

    Sony Vegas

Right...any of them will edit your your videos and allow you to upload to Vimeo and Youtbube and such, but many guys who like to author the DVD's and mass sell them need a program that can get it on DVD as well with menu buttons. I wasn't sure what all your needs were.
