Nice goals R.K. Keep the rest of us posted. Rooting for you man!

    Set Sheets Anybody?

Draven, I think you mentioned something very important in your first paragraph. It may be a tool for someone else to evaluate you on. Many magicians out there would not be completely honest with themselves. Heck there are even times when I think I've done a good job and then when I've talked...

Free Effect: ESP (Extra Sneaky Prediction)

Oh ok got it. Something new for you. After I posted that I thought you might interpret it like that....ha ha. For people who haven't seen an effect like that yet, yes, it is a nice little pocket effect, easy reset, etc. I think along the lines like you though. Anytime you have a spectator count...

Free Effect: ESP (Extra Sneaky Prediction)

Michael, I like the effect and very glad you shared it, however I wouldn't exactly say it is a "NEW" effect. All of those forcing methods / outs are covered in many mental magic books. Good job though and it plays simple and hits hard for layman.

    Stand Up Act Questions.

Now when you say stand up act....are you thinking more of a small parlour style show or a full blown stage show for 300+ people? Just curious because some of that seems a bit small if you are thinking a full blown stage show. The only thing I noticed and it may just be me, is that you are...

    Making an effect "your own."

Making an effect your own and tweaking it is a very fun and rewarding process, but be very cautious of allowing too many magicians to see it or next thing you know they are performing "your" routine...patter and all. I've seen this happen quite a few times since we have about 35 guys in our...

    The Session Convention 2012

I will not be attending that particular convention but WOW....what a lineup! Sometimes the best conventions are the little ones is the rinky dink hotels where the jamming in the outer lobby is just as much fun as the lecturers presenting.

    Inspiration in Magic

Nice Job Jewish. Everything has pretty much been covered so I am not going to beat the dead horse but many times all I need to do is change the delivery and patter to something more meaningful or fitting for that particular demographic and the reactions and "fun" come right back. Occasionally...

    Tasty impromptu card magic?

Look up anything by Nick Trost or Aldo Colombini. It is hard to beat Biddle or a Triumph Routine for impromptu performances....( I use both almost daily )

    Biggest Show Yet

Awesome R.K. Loved reading this first thing this morning. That's great you could do something with the ornament "on the fly" so to speak.

    Emc 2012?

Exactly! What more could you want?

    Emc 2012?

If anyone is contemplating the EMC it is insanely good and well worth the price. You can watch everything "LIVE" while sitting in your boxers eating a bowl of ice cream. Just saying...hypothetically speaking.

    "Labeling" Effects

A lot depends on your personality and / or character. David Stone may walk over to a table and quickly ask if anyone dropped a coin, and BAM BAM BAM....he is off and running into his coin set. Someone else may go over and introduce themselves as the "house magician" and do a little meet and...

    First Restaurant Gig - Disaster

Ali, Welcome aboard my friend. You are taking the first correct step in breaking down and reflecting on what needs to improved before you attempt it again. I give you props for getting out there and doing this and it will get easier....I promise. Many people can learn from this post and...

    "Labeling" Effects

I like my "opener" to hit hard and fast in about 30 seconds to grab their attention and emotional hook quickly. It establishes my credibility and sets the tone for what is to come. I typically use Mismade Bill or Warning by Kostya or CMH on their hands. My closer takes a littler longer because...

    Close Up Pad Creases

I meant do NOT put heavy weights on your pad..my apologies it was a typo, however I guess you could put a weight on the back of the pad and see if it pushes the indents back out or try the washing method like Brundage said. If neither works, then I guess you'll have to purchase a new one. One...

    Close Up Pad Creases

Did you fold it to get it into a carrying case or something? Most people either always leave them flat when traveling or roll it up gently. Try not to set heavy objects on them either or sometimes it will leave an indentation. Would there be a way to roll it the opposite direction or iron...

    Headsets and expenses

Happy Amp. 2.0 is very good for the cost. I use it all of the time and love it. You get a few different set ups and can order a hand held mic extra if you want it. It can be AC powered or battery charged for about 4 hours. http://bhappie.com/main/ I've used it for outdoor picnics, smaller...
