Magic Theory of New Card Tricks

I'm with you bro, this thread is confusing... Anyway, since we're talking about making effects now, I've created a few sleights and effects before, but never really developed them. I'm still learning more before I start to make my own effects. Funny thing, when I was starting magic, and...

Magic Theory of New Card Tricks

Ummmm, maybe it sucks because you never put the time into it. Personally, I've seen many guys use it and do it beautifully. I think it's one of the prettier changes out there actually. Anyway, I have totally lost you. The OP was fine, but now you're just talking about anything that pops...

    New Logo: Opinions?

I'd say make the background color a darker red. Pretty sick otherwise! It reminds me of some logo for a rock band. I like it.

    The Age of Laziness

Yea, thanks for that post, hopefully people will read it and realize magic is not just double lifts and thumb tips.

People who have the "Trilogy" ....

Just got it for Christmas, and I would say it's worth it fo sho. Out of the tricks though, I can't really do any of them yet (obviously) so I'll just say the one's I think I'll practice and use. Hedberg's peak, hand to mouth, subway, twinsplit remix, the queens, swiss made, fission for aces...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Ah, these are better points, and tougher questions to answer.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

True that, that's a subject on it's own. And it does come with the territory. Ditto!

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

I'm not comparing it to figuring out a trick. I'm comparing it to figuring out a trick then using it. If you figure out an effect, fine, there is no stealing involved and it's perfectly fine. But to go and use it? The guys who created that effect spent a year refining and performing it for...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Correct. If you figure out an effect, that's fine, it's not stealing. But if you go out and perform the effect, that is stealing. If you came up with the method indipendently, then that's fine. But taking an effect you didn't pay for would be stealing.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Don't worry, it's all cool between us. I'm not mad either. And you're correct about not much is new now days.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Smug? Self-righteous? Cool off man, I'm not getting mad at anyone, I'm just saying it as it is. Stealing is wrong. EDIT: BTW, how is that a one liner?

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Heck yea, of course it's been going on for years. But just because other people do it doesn't mean it's right. "Oh, those guys killed an old man the other day, I guess it's okay for me to do it too *kills old guy*" I just am saying it's wrong to steal, but I guess you guys would disagree.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

No one's wear'n a halo kid, I'm just saying that taking something that you didn't pay for is stealing.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

You guys can call it whatever you want just to make your conscience feel fine, but stealing is stealing. You are still not paying for a product and using it, thus we like to call that stealing. If I'm in a store and grab an apple and run out then eat it, what would you call that? Hmmm...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

Have you read the posts above you? IT'S STEALING!!!!! Geez...

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

That's completely true, but unfortunately, people don't see it that way. They don't seem to make the connection that it's the same thing, only in a different situation.

    The Morals of "Figuring Out"

As I wasn't going to go through the five pages of arguments (only read the first page) I will simply ask another question in return for anyone thinking it's okay to do what the OP asked. Is it alright to steal money from someone? Hmmmm? ........No...
