Thought of Card In Envelope Plot

Daniel Madison's is called 180 and it can be found in ONE. There is a physical method to achieve the effect if the force misses. If done well you can use equivical methods like the one in Paralies. Dee's Anate force is very nice so is the cross roads concept.

    Anate by Dee Christopher

It has been said many times before that failing in mentalism is just as important as hitting.

    Your Favorite Mentalism Effect?

I agree wholeheartly with what Dee said, mentalism in its pure form is mainly dictated by the presentation rather than a method. Patrick Redford does a ACR with the premise of psychological manipulation and it comes off feeling like the real deal. The problem with a lot of magicians who try...

    Your Favorite Mentalism Effect?

I think it would be closer to a total of 10 who have done a proper mentalism act.

    Deck Switch

The first idea about the pen is the one that everyone is taugh. In my opinion it is wrong, I mean why would you look for your pen in your pockets with a deck in hand. I know I would look in one pocket than swap which hand is holding the deck and look into the other.

    Deck Switch

The deck switch is one of those moves that is so transperent if not done well. If I am going to use a deck switch I spend the most amount of time to make sure it is as seemless as possible everything from where my spectators are to justification for putting the deck away.

    Your Favorite Mentalism Effect?

There are many ways to answer this question so I do know really know where to begin. A good drawing dupe is always nice and can play big and small. My personal favourites are Sneak Thief (Max Maven's Desire), Transmission by Marc Spelmann and Ian Rowland's no method Design Dupe. I have...

    51 Seconds to Impress

First ask for two 90 second blocks for your juggling and your magic as seperate forms of performance. This will hopefully show that you take both of them very serisously. Second you want something quick and visual for them to remember you by, however what is more important is show that you can...

    Prevaricator - Patrick Redford

This effect will never go well with the masses. the reason is that it can fail. Plus it takes serious audience management.

    Prevaricator - Patrick Redford

Prevaricator - Patrick Redford What They Say Patrick Redford’s “Prevaricator” is more than a mentalism effect—it’s a concept that uses no gimmicks or props. Redford shares his diabolical method for detecting a lie, and discovering who is hiding a borrowed object and which hand they are...

DIPLOPIA by Paul Vigil - Video Review

Paul gives a method but it requires a perfect faro. Personally I up jog a fair chunk of one colour so like 15-20 black cards. Remove one and give it a quick mix.

Revealing a trick as part of a magic routine.

It has to be done well. And it it really should be a pseudo method, and used to be distract them from the real one.

    Shawn Farquhar on Ellen

There is quite a large thread about it on the cafe that talks about where to find the methods to achieve similar effects. Shane Black has something out that does the exact same thing.

David Blaine to perform for 72hrs for Haiti

Mad Props to Blaine. I am wrecked after performing three nights in a row. But Blaine is taking that to a crazy level.

    Magician vs Master Hypnotist

I choose hypnotist for many reasons. The primary reason is that a magician (often) needs to hide the method of the effect however as a hypnotist the effect is the method.

As for the massive thread bump I thought about this routine the other day. I believe it is a showing off effect however it is based on the premise of memory, and one's ability to not only memorise a deck of cards but see interesting patterns in it. From a 'magician' stand point this can...

    Stage Opener

Smash and stab works better as a closer. How long is the show what is it about? These things are important and often get overlooked. I feel that your show is more of an assortment of tricks rather than something with substance. Plus you have a lot of effects and things like torn and...

    Art of Astonishment book 2

Morgician is right it is just all the books PH released earlier in his career and a few new things added. Interesting that you said number 2 was in your opinion the best as the general feeling (from most people) is that 2 is the weakest of the group.

    Best Color Changes

The clipshift has more angle issues than the click change. I use to think quick super 'visual' colour changes were the way to go however now something like el Cambio Nada (spelling) or a winter change feels like magic much more than a shapeshifter or cardini.
