    Perching

No, he's not - "he is right" does not give your argument any more validity, anymore than me saying that I am dating Elisha Cuthbert on the side makes that a reality. I will reiterate. If you can't make something out of perching... You're doing it wrong. Other people can and have made it work...

5 Sleights for the Rest of Your Life

I get your point, but would disagree with your definition of a sleight. I wouldn't call a pass five different sleights, for example, although a pass itself contains many moves. But the sleight is the culmination of those motions. Although there would be legitimate cause for debate about the...

    Perching

I think I see where this question comes from, Mr.T. I would say that perching is still relatively unexplored. The biggest problem I see with the concept is this: most people don't actually perform what they practice or create. So, too often, you see people create perching concepts that are...

    Beginning coin magic

JCL, that's not the point. I assume you have the Magic Makers DVD of Bobo (or alternatively, God forbid, the "Best of" version). The point is that seeing something done wrong, and learning from it, is the worst possible outcome. It is better to not know how to do something, than to do it...

    Coin Bend

I'm glad you've realised it mate, believe me. The concept of character and continuity is one that's especially prevalent in mentalism, because of the nature of the whole thing. But it certainly helps to look at magic that way, too, although the rules of magic are probably somewhat less...

    True Astonishments Performance Videos?

Well, it's understandable to want to see some of the effects. But no, I don't believe there is. You'll have to rely on the effect descriptions.

    RIOT and Fallen

It's called the Lazy Rise, not the Lady Rise. The lady rise is both a Japanese song, and what my missus does when - never mind. It's a Japanese song. Also, it's called managing angles.

    Beginning coin magic

No, it is not. This is amongst the worst advice I've seen for a while written by someone who clearly has no understanding of the original. Whatever you do, steer clear of the MagicMakers DVD set of Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. DO however get a copy of the book. However, my advice is to not just...

Saturday Night Contest - Do You Remember?

Pity I'm practically nocturnal and slept through this one due to the time difference. Ah well - congrats!

    Are you an atheist?

Or, read classic texts. Exhibit A, Derren Brown. Someone, please pick up a copy of Annemann, and stop wasting your time trying to google "Derren Brown Psychology Trick NLP". Magicians are just laymen with bunny rabbits on their business cards.

    The.Machine

Mate, I can definitely sympathise. I remember filming a short effect to get some feedback on my gravity half pass. It was only after someone pointed it out to me that I saw that I had performed possibly the worst spread pass I've ever seen in the very same video. >.> Also, you might wanna PM...

    Performance - Flourishing

To clarify - If you perform flourishing within the context of your magic - then your answer is NO. I am not interested in people who perform an ACR, then a 2CM, and throw a sybil there for good measure. That's not a flourishing performance, that's a magic performance that includes a...

    Are you an atheist?

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about, right there. People just can't resist taking a swipe at someone who doesn't share their beliefs (often citing stereotypical, incorrect or exaggerated views).

    Performance - Flourishing

Hey guys, I was thinking the other night - a couple of months back I got into something of an argument with a respected member of the cardistry community over what I perceived as a lack of real world application of the skills we spend so much time honing. This particular person carried...

    Are you an atheist?

Agnosticism is different from atheism, by the way. But yes. Just so you know achuthan - topics on religion are generally closed pretty quickly, since levels of tolerance are incredibly low from a small minority of people on both sides. However, you are not alone - I know of some here who are...

How to deal with stalkers... or otherwise unpleasent folk.

I've never had a stalker whilst performing magic, but I did have one instance of a stalker following me on set during an acting job. And even then, she definitely wasn't that old, or even particularly mentally disturbed, lol. Now normally, I'd just say be clear about how you feel - but if...

    Coin Bend

PK - realism = trick. Therefore your spectators, bar a small minority, will ALWAYS be looking for an explanation. No matter what techniques you use. If an effect doesn't fit your character, then it shouldn't be performed. This is especially true of anything that even remotely resembles mentalism.
