Also on a lot of the material covered in the royal road there are 1 on 1 downloads by Jason England that I would highly recommend. I find it helps to see what I am reading about and I know others that feel the same way. Jason's videos are really inexpensive and very in depth. Hope this helps

I find if you have 3 or 4 slights to practice it helps to avoid getting too frustrated with one if you are having trouble. I wouldn't add any more to it though until you can perform the ones you are working on with ease.

My first trick was the classic color change. Then I started working on some false shuffles and cuts. Haven't stopped since.

Such as? I have looked at a lot of the effects on Ellusionist and really didn't care for any of them. They really spend a lot of time on the trailers and from what I have seen from other places are really underwhelming.

fair enough. However I did end up getting some water damage along the edge of the deck and thought they were ruined. turns out despite the obvious blackening of the cards they still handled like a dream

For me they were rather think but they felt cheap in the sense that despite being stiff they didn't function as well as decks like Tally's and Rebels.
