Yes, I do know Bill's original effect. I was referring to you mentioning that it is "not Bill's original effect", but rather that it was "just a version of Bill's basic effect". Sorry, I don't mean to grill you on anything or anything like that, just trying to make sense of what you said.

There are LOTS of applications of the GHP, if you put some thought into it. Another one is a packet switch, for example. The Paper Engine covers many, but I'm sure you could think of more.

Can I ask how long you've been practicing it? From the sounds of things, one suggestion that comes to mind is to try doing it slow first. In much the same way as I'd practice a difficult piano piece slowly, go through the motions at a slower pace, and when it's smooth then, pick up the pace.

Just curious Dylan, how Close-up mats improve close up effects? I guess I agree with the general gist of this thread. I'd like to add that having a close-up mat can augment your magic by improving its framing, if you are in a situation that would benefit from this. I don't perform with a close...
