SNC Roundtable Discussion : Jason England - The Center

Question 2: If you could collaborate with any artist for a book or DVD (about gambling sleights, or whatever it is you would like to do) who you've yet to have the opportunity to collaborate with, who would it be, and why?

SNC Roundtable Discussion : Jason England - The Center

Question 1: I know that Akira Fuji used (still uses?) heavy metal plates to practice his classic pass...do you have any special training techniques that are out of the ordinary for your center deal, or any other card sleights that you do?

    Branded - Need Feedback

Would you be able to post a video of a performance (for a real spectator)? I'd be more than happy to help, in that case. It's just hard for me to judge a written description of an effect...it doesn't say anything about the performance, just what the effect is theoretically supposed to look like...

    Karnival Midnights

These look great...I'll have to pick up a few (or at least one for the collection). :) Also, about changing the other card designs: The Tragic Royalty cards changed every card, not just the court cards/Jokers/AoS/backs. It is a fairly subtle change, but overall it looks quite good; it...

    Sweet New Magic T-Shirt

Honestly, not a big fan. Of the shirt, of the website design (took far too long to load--what is that, anyway, flash? It seemed poorly coded...I hope there's a money back guarantee from whoever designed that for you, since they obviously didn't really know what they were doing, heh), and of the...

You may want to check out "Burn" by Daniel Madison...sounds awfully familiar to some stuff in there.

Do the Bucks have good magic?

I'm kind of confused here...perhaps someone could clear it up for me. Steerpike's opinion is easy to recognize; he seems to be saying that what the bucks perform is not magic. While OneCardWonder seems to be saying that they do, in fact, perform magic, based on the fact that they're excellent...

    Performing - Tips

What effects do you know? It's hard to recommend anything if we don't even know what effects you know, and suggesting anything new is kind of pointless because you really won't have the time to learn and practice new effects by Saturday (optimally, you'll have at least a few months to prepare)...

    Daniel Madison's Site - Down?

It works for me. It may be your ISP that's giving you problems...that sometimes happens to me for certain sites and programs (Facebook and MSN, respectively)--I won't be able to access one or the other, yet my friends from other parts of the city, country, or world can. :)

    theory11 - TRILOGY SET // + andthensome :: 20% OFF

Oh wow...that's quite the deal! Too bad I already have the Trilogy...oh well, I'll still be picking up andthensome. :)

    Hypnosis Thread

First of all, hypnosis isn't "proven" to be "real"...as far as actual scientific studies (mostly psychological studies), there is far from a consensus on whether or not hypnosis is a real altered state. The fact that it only works on some, not all, people, and the fact that you can only get the...

I still can't get into the new 1-on-1 section!

I suggest submitting a ticket...we really can't help you as much here on the forums.

Do the Bucks have good magic?

I guess it really depends on how you define "magical". "Fools me" isn't really part of my definition, but apparently it's important to some. David Copperfield's effects (well, some, not all of them) don't really fool me anymore...yet, they're still very magical to me. The bucks just don't...

Do the Bucks have good magic?

I'm not really a big fan of their magic. They're technically amazing, there's no doubt about that, but like many have already said, it's far too flashy for my tastes. I mean, it's fun to watch, but it's not magical--it's fun on a "wow, that looks impressive, like it takes lots of skill" level...

Yet another reason to dislike Criss. As if he needed another reason.

    A plea to the multitudes...

This is exactly the distinction I was making with the two words. Even if you had a gun to their head and told them to do what you say or die, and they subsequently do what you say, you are still not controlling them...just influencing their decision. They still have the choice to not comply (and...

    A plea to the multitudes...

I wouldn't say "control"...I'd use the word "influence". :) Yes, they have different meanings, and yes, that's important.

    A plea to the multitudes...

If you don't like it, you can feel free to contribute "properly", since apparently everyone else is unable to. Lead by example.

The Average Joe Magician - A case study in banality...

From the first part of the post you quoted: "For example,". Nowhere did I say it was the be all, end all way of going about things. Just an example.

The Average Joe Magician - A case study in banality...

First off, I'll start by saying I agree wholeheartedly. In order to make it in show business you need to promote yourself, and to make it a lot easier on yourself you need to make a name for yourself (or, as Steerpike seems to be arguing, making a name for yourself is also necessary, and not...
