    Help With Choosing Books

If you trim the list (which I would advise that you get to the other books on the list some time in the future) I can say that you cannot go wrong with the two Ortiz books. The Derren Brown books are great, but unless you are forking out lots of cash, it might be a while before you can get your...

Tarbells Course In Magic Vol. 1-8

Prae, I would laugh, if it weren't so true... =P You can get the PDF version at lybrary.com here, and it is for a good price too. The down side to it is that it is only the original 60 lessons, though some would say those are the ones that were the best (which I tend to agree with them)...

Whoa! Your back in the Castle! I have been rooting for you on the side lines man, congrats =D

    Help With Choosing Books

Well, now that you are adding the trilogy, I would read those frist, then Darwin Ortiz, then Maximum Entertainment. Sounds like you will be busy for a while =)

    Street Magic Set

Agreed, I am just more interested in what is in the set and if it is worth my cash, or if I should just let it go.

Not sure if you wanted criticism or not, but all of the movements at the bottom of the deck were really obvious...

    Help With Choosing Books

So far, they all look like they are worth the cost. I mean, I would go with the Darwin Ortiz books first. But, that is just me. Also, how come you don't have the Fitzkee Trilogy in that too???

    What is Magic?

Sometimes I feel like we alienate people in these forums... But then I think about what they have said in the past and realize that they only alienate themselves...

The "How did you do that?" line.

I like to ask, "Well, how do you think I did it?" Most the time they respond that they have no clue, to which I give a kind smile and ask "so you liked it?" Giving warm responses to deflect the question is key for me.

Does it matter how well you sleeve?

I used to be in sales and found that a lot of the same principles for sales will also work for magic. One of the most powerful lessons that I learned and I use all the time in my performances is that a problem is only a problem if you haven't resolved it. And the best time to resolve a problem...

    Collab video with supertom123!

I've found with transformations of bills, it is best to go to higher bills, like hundreds. It creates a stronger bond with spectator because everyone likes money... Just some food for thought.

    What is Magic?

But you don't know it all, in fact, prove us wrong. Put up some video feed of you performing you "Elite Prestidigitation" for those around you. We have cited many great magicians and you have tried, but failed, to shoot them down. So far, I think you just have things backwards.

    What is Magic?

Well said RealityOne... The thing that I don't understand about Elite's presentation is that he rips into the Old School Magicians, and then says that he performs like them? Honestly, when I tell someone that this was done by "Prestidigitation" they just look at me and have no idea what I...

    What is Magic?

Of course you are lying to your audience. But is that a bad thing? I mean, a magician is just someone playing the part of a magician. Like an actor, one of our professions is to create the scene of illusion for our audience. The actor lies on many levels to get their audience to connect...

    What is Magic?

Jason England gave a great story on what he though magic was during EMC. I advise everyone to go out and listen to it, great advice overall. I really like what you said.

    Street Magic Set

I should clarify... I don't care that it is Street Magic. Though at the same time, the tips on street magic would be welcome. I am more of looking for some good solid effects, and I am hoping that this might have some that I would add to my chest of things to do. I am not a beginner, more...

    My Routine

I would try for three tricks per table. Three tends to be a magic number and it works perfectly on having an opener, a climax, and a closer.

    Solid Card books/DVDs

Check out this free One-on-One by Jason England. It gives you plenty of suggestions on things you can learn. The other suggestion would be The Paper Engine by Aaron Fisher.

    My Routine

I am in agreement with Zenn and Tokyo. Having a full card routine could be harmful to your performance (this rule does not count if you are pulling an all out gambling routine, but you are not). For research value in what you are doing I would advise David Stone's Real Secrets of Magic Volume...
