This isn't a card through window effect. This is a color change through window. Nothing about the description makes it sound like the effect is a penetration. It's a change.

I think it's a good alternative, but I still prefer the classic gimmick for its visual impact. Seeing the unblinking moment the cigarette penetrates the quarter and melts back through is a powerful thing, and I think it also is a nice moment of misdirection to keep the audience thinking...

And I second you back! Garrett definitely has the best handling for Cigarette Through Quarter. It's also on his "Inside the Mind" DVDs, as well as the World's Greatest Magic Cigarette Through Quarter DVD.

I suggest going with the Johnson Cigarette Through Quarter (one-sided). Very well made.

It's the same effect. Blaine just has the spectator flick the deck. He also uses a different method for having the card selected and controlled. Still the same (Pit Hartling) effect, though. He's just altered the handling a bit. Really fun effect to perform.
