That isn't true. While there is the crediting issue, in method, both of those effects are entirly different. Trust me. Sankey's effects are great, as are Dan's's. Don't get them mixed up though, as they are quite different.

Sounds similar to Sankey's Choice (I believe that is what it is called; taught in 20 years of magic.) That effect is where the spectator takes five cards, remembers one, shuffles and returns all 5 to the deck and there card is told to them.

I LOVE Guardians. I have had a deck that I have dropped and killed for a couple of months now and... It still feels new! Great for magic or flourishing. Trust me. Split Spades are about the same, finish wise, but look a lot less cool, and Tallys look cool but to my expierience are not...

I know. I have literally watched Control and Dangerous and Exile like 30 times now, and it is entertaining every time.

I just use the classic one by David Roth, but I agree with Greg Wilson when he says that the position of the fingers is not natural. The illusion is so convincing though, it is worth justifying with patter.

David Regal & David Acer FTW. David Acer is a really nice guy and when he lectured at SEAM, he had to do it impromptu cause the stage was set up much differently. So for forty five minutes, he taught us stuff out of the book. Needless to say his books are incredible.

Where have you seen this flourish before? I can't say that I ever have, and if you say that all the moves aren't original either, then you could say that no flourishes are original. This was for the flourish, the editing and music. I don't know why people are so uptight about this.
