I agree. Palm the card. Or do kind of like a cardini change except face down to ditch the dirty card and then do a clipshift or one hand pass to return the dirty card to the top.

like everyone above me said, talking is important. If they STILL catch you which is unlikely learn some different controls...miller cascade, side steal, or simply catching a break and doing an over hand shuffle; just to name a few

For me I can never think of a new effect if I try to. It's just kind of something that happens when you least expect it. So my advice would be not to "try" to create one. Then once you get an idea apply you're favorite sleights and ones you are good at. Again this is just me

joshbrand's trick "refined" can be found on youtube. you can use either of those changes for it. It pretty much that trick that you're grandpa showed you when you were 7 years old with a visual twist. I'll gladly give u a link if you're interested
