    Creating Presentation

Everybody who has read these forums know about the countless posts about your patter, presentation, performance, w/e word you want to use. We all hear and read about it but not many books or videos really help on how you can create your own presentation. I'm sure many people change a few lines...

    How to Practice

Yep, I second what Chris said but do it by trying to use muscle memory only. It may seem a bit weird to say it but I remember trying to concentrate on all the sleights and actually messed up more this way. Later I just did the sleights while watching T.V. doing them slowly and picking up pace...

Swami or Boon? Whats the difference?

I used a swami gimmick at first from E and was loving the tricks with it but every so often someone would mention pencil instead of pen or sharpie. I got the super sharpie after witnessing some incredible feats and it just seemed perfect and I was not disappointed at all. I used my previous...

Does Anyone Recommend Any Luke Jermay Books For Me?

I'm still a beginner in mentalism but I don't believe you need to read 13 Steps or even Fundamentals to get past being a beginner same goes with Royal Road. There are plenty of other books and videos that can go over similar material that can help you understand more about mentalism. However...

    Wal-Mart FTW

I laughed very hard, he said it was because he worked there and didn't like it not because of some other reason. However watch the documentary on Wal Mart and see how they treat their employees among other things and you may change your mind on a few things.

    How much is too much?

I was talking with a fellow forum member and discussing some mentalism. Explained an effect with playing cards and had the discussion about adding phases and risk vs. reward. Basic effect is having them choose any card and they choose four random cards to add to the pile. Through body...

    Trying Out Mentalism

This is hard to act upon since I literally just saw a horrible mentalist performance on youtube by Wayne Hoffman. He was on the Ellen Degeneres Show and just gave her instructions and had his prediction. Basically no substance just a simple effect with a little gimmick every mentalist should...

    Trying Out Mentalism

Corinda is the second thing you need to read. I received it first a while back and I have recently gotten Bob Cassidy's fundamentals and it is so good. It starts you off with what you need to know about performing as a mentalist and tips and hints on things to enhance yourself. Corinda is more...

    Legality Question

I bought some mentalism books from a friend of mine, Bob Cassidy's fundamentals in a digital copy. Well, it took roughly six hours to download all of this but apparently he sent wayyy more material than I thought. All of Banachek's released material, lots of Bob Cassidy, Kenton Knepper, Derren...

    Wal-Mart FTW

Hmmm, I won't lie but Wal Mart is a difficult place to really perform at. Choose spectators that look like they are just walking around looking for random stuff to buy. Try not to crowd any aisles when performing and keep everything quick and simple.

Does Anyone Recommend Any Luke Jermay Books For Me?

Coral Fang for effects, and 3510 for presentation ideas and a few effects. Touching on Hoy is probably the best impromptu stage/parlor mentalism effect. You need three chairs, three spectators, and the routine. Easy peezy.

    Is this guy serious?

It wasn't terrible but that's in our eyes. The audience seemed pleased however though his technique is horrible and he really didn't perform that well. If the people who hired him liked it then no reason to discuss someone's lack of skill.

Every magician probably needs to read this.

Thanks for all the positive comments, I figured this could help in some way and hope everybody who takes the time to read it gets something out of it.

Every magician probably needs to read this.

Well, to be honest it seems like a waste of money and you are buying things more out of curiosity and method seeking more than anything. What do you plan of getting out of buying the effects other than learning the method? Do you try and use a method to accomplish a different effect?

Every magician probably needs to read this.

Great questions. When you are looking for insight into art of deception then it's probably best to pick something as directly related to it as possible. However there are plenty of DvD and books that are single tricks and effects that are loaded with a great content. It's kind of hard to...

Every magician probably needs to read this.

Looking back at when I first started magic and it was such a great beginning to a great experience that has forever changed my life. However the road was certainly one that I wish I could change now looking back, it would be one that would save me much money. I realize that many magicians...

    Mentalist Effect // Blindsight

Can't go wrong with this effect really, the instructions included go over so many subtleties and handling and then Mr. Knight actually explains why he does this and the psychological factor behind it. It really is such a steal, I can't get my head around how I can find a garbage product with low...

    Boxed In - Andrew Lee

Make a shorter video, the trick is good and not long like others are saying. My two biggest gripes are the lack of effort put into your presentation of the effect. The color change had no build up, no anticipation, just you quickly waving your hand and that was it. If it were me I wouldn't...
