    Theory11 does it again!

I'm going to be the odd man out and say it's not really my style of humor. Granted, my style of humor usually involves violence... I don't know, I just think the jokes around here are a little try-hard.

    Becoming famous with extraordinary

Since only the minority is actually giving practical advice, let me try to offer something useful. Build up a reputation for a particular quality. For David Blaine, he started build a rep based on being mysterious. Criss Angel started out being outrageous. David Copperfield cultivated an...

    Becoming famous with extraordinary

There's a slight difference between public fame and professional fame.

    What is a purist?

If they can tell the difference, that means one of two things: 1. You're performing for magicians. 2. Your performing skills really suck.

    Cool Off Tudor

If I do, it's news to me. Most of what I use is culled either from Xtreme Beginnerz, or Jeff McBride's Art of Card Manipulation. I have explained in detail over the last few months why I dislike him and feel absolutely no obligation to him. This video only furthers my perceptions of him...

    Cool Off Tudor

I really don't care what material the man puts out. I still won't support him.

    Cool Off Tudor

Why should I respect a man who believes the best way to stop tough audiences is to humiliate them into silence with flashy moves and tricks?

    The Prestige or The Illusionist?

The hell? The Spritualist movement of the 1800's has inseparable ties with magic and mentalism. Anyway, I hate comparing the two movies. The Illusionist was a romance, both in genre and in artistic execution. It harkened to Romantic notions of rebellion, emotion, and belief. I also...

    Cool Off Tudor

Brian Tudor is the Yngwie Malmsteen of magic. That's all I have to say about that.

So you see no point in showing a little initiative and writing some reviews on material still in circulation? You need us to tell you what to write?

Indecision 2007: Magician Of The Year

Which really just reinforces my point that trying to establish the magician of the year based on the opinions of an online forum (especially one rife with fanboys) is comedic in how tragic it turns out. Hell, the options in the poll are proof enough of that.

You couldn't have posted that in the actual review forum? You're shooting yourself in the foot everytime you open your mouth.

Indecision 2007: Magician Of The Year

Making a point that with the exception of those making a living doing this, not many people here are aware of magic outside of the microcosm of the big 3 online dealers: Theory-11, Ellusionist, and Penguin. Does that make them lesser people? No, but it does make them unqualified to judge...

No. How about you make your own decision? Nobody wants to hear about how great you are. They want to see it. As it is you're just fishing for compliments.

Giving us a list of names is not enough. It makes it look like you're bragging. You can't make people come to you by showing off the size of your (insert favorite euphemism for taboo anatomy) to traffic.

You could just wait until someone asks and volunteer an opinion, rather than putting up a whole list and coming across as another wannabe guru. Or you could do something novel, like write reviews.

Indecision 2007: Magician Of The Year

This. The whole idea of asking an internet forum to vote on the magician of the year is absurd, especially when it's a guy making a poll mostly consisting of a few mainstream names and the creators of the website he's starting the poll on. Last year, Princess Tenko was injured badly with a...

    Trouble Creating Routine

I'm sorry, what? Just because David Blaine can get away with silence and minimalist scripting doesn't mean everyone can. I would never tell someone who has a problem with scripting to go silent. It requires far more subtlety, restraint, and tact than 99% of the people who advocate it realize.

    Trouble Creating Routine

You think it's going to get any better by just practicing in your room? There's no solution other than to get out there and perform. If you need help writing scripts, I and others can help you.

    Beginner: Crash Course/Born to Perform

I know better than to think my word would carry any weight. Ask Lee Asher about Penguin and MagicMakers. And if you can get ahold of them, ask Colin Gilbert and Rick Maue as well.
